UNESCO ICT competency framework for teachers Dr Michelle Selinger In response to a growing demand for professional development for teachers in the use of ICT for teaching, learning and professional productivity, UNESCO, with input from education consultants from Cisco, Intel, Microsoft and ISTE have developed a set of competency statements which break down the components of ICT development into stages and requirements. The framework was launched at the Learning and Teaching World Forum in the UK in January 2007. In this talk the framework will be described and an update given on how countries can and are using the framework to train teachers to use ICT, effectively and efficiently.
