Certificate In Advanced Data Analysis 15 – 19 December 2013 • The Address Hotel, Dubai Marina, Dubai, UAE Course Timings: Registration will be at 08:00 on Day One. Course sessions will commence at 08:30 and end at 14:30. There will be two short breaks for refreshments at appropriate times and lunch will be served at the end of each day’s sessions.

Course Overview Business excellence today means more than just process improvement or having a good quality program. It means having the capability and the skills to analyse various aspects of business performance. Analytic techniques have evolved to solve certain types of business problems. Some of the newer techniques are critical to good analysis. These techniques include influence diagrams, neural nets, decision trees with alternatives, semantic analysis and various types of simulation. The widespread availability of data and the emergence of a variety of analytical techniques and methods are critical to the business. These techniques are designed to focus on remediation of problems, decisions or situations. Actions involving risk, sensitivity and influence on decisions impact the direction of the business. Positive structural changes for consolidations, performance improvement or privatisation are the foundation for successful results. Methods and concepts for decision making are covered in detail during this course. Basic 4-box techniques require thought and insight into their meaning and interpretation. Deciding between alternatives requires some form of decision analysis. Ranking risk requires a method of quantifying and then ranking the risk. Many tools are available for the advanced techniques. Since various types of tools are used for this level of data analysis only a few can be used and shown during this seminar. While Excel can be used for many of the exercises it may be necessary to use neural net and tree diagramming tools for certain problem types. Delegates require a laptop with the capability of installing software on the laptop.

About Your Expert Course Director James Graham specialises in strategy and strategic execution, with experience of working in over 40 countries across Africa, The Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

The George Washington University School of Business, IIR Middle East’s Academic Partner, is dedicated to excellence: in its teaching and research about management, in the public and private sectors, within the United States and internationally. The school has a 75 year history of preparing men and women for leadership in both the public and private sectors. Known internationally for its dedication to academic excellence, the school draws students from all parts of the United States and around the world. Beyond first class teaching and scholarship, the school’s faculty offers practical experience in the issues and challenges confronting business and government. Its research centres link faculty and students with US and international business and government organisations. Recent distance learning initiatives have expanded the school’s global reach.

Initially working in industry, in the sales and marketing function, he then developed a second career in management consulting, working with Pagoda Consulting, a highly respected London based boutique that focused on IT strategy and business transformation. In these roles, he had to master quantitative data analysis, to develop the best recommendations and decisions, for example developing alternative models of business processes and the necessary staffing plans, to aid the senior executives of business in choosing how to transform their businesses. James holds a Certificate in Management Studies, a Diploma in Psychology and a Master of Science in Consulting. He is PMP® certified and also holds British Psychological Society Level A and B Intermediate + qualifications, which requires competence in quantitative data analysis, in interpreting psychometric instruments. He has a reputation as a thoughtful and supportive course leader, who breaks complex topics into easy to understand ‘chunks’ and demystifies technical subjects.

Course Requirements And Certificates

Course Overview

Delegates must meet two criteria to be eligible for an IIRME/GW Certificate of Completion for a course: 1. Satisfactory attendance – delegates must attend all sessions of the course. Delegates who miss more than 2 hours of the course sessions will not be eligible to sit the course assessment. 2. Successful completion of the course assessment.

The modern organisational manager or specialist is expected to work with the masses of data available from organisation wide IT systems and to be able to provide precise analysis and recommendations for senior managers/executives or to make decisions supported by facts.

Delegates who do not meet these criteria will receive an IIRME Certificate of Attendance. If delegates have not attended all sessions, the Certificate will clearly state the number of hours attended.

Assessment Process The assessment for this course will be based upon three components: • A multi-option set of relevant questions • An overall assessment by the trainer on your level of participation and demonstrated level of learning

Would you like to run this course in-house?

The in-house training division of IIR Middle East Tel: +971 4 407 2624 • Email: CTS@iirme.com www.iirme.com/cts

To do this effectively, means recognising patterns and analysing these using the best tools for the job, often in the form of computer spreadsheets and associated add-ins. This will involve recognising trends and what these mean for the organisation, as well as being able to predict the sensitivity of decisions to changes in attributes, for example the cost of fuel to a transportation form. This engaging and interactive seminar will provide you with a rich toolset to help you make better decisions and recommendations, thus building your capability and confidence in using data analysis as part of your job role.

Course Methodology This programme will be highly interactive, with a mix of theory, including video clips and practical sessions. You will have the opportunity to share your experience, learn from others through group discussions and you will develop your skills through a series of individual and group exercises. You Y will need a laptop, netbook or tablet with Microsoft Office® EExcel® installed and be able to install some add-ins.

Who Should Attend? This seminar is suitable for anyone who needs to use data analysis in their job role, including strategists, programme/project managers, business analysts, business process managers, etc.
