“Competing at the highest level is the greatest test of one's character.” – (Russell Mark, 1964) XXXX Queensland Maroons go to Emerald: Congratulations to Darren Lockyer and the XXXX Queensland Maroons for winning the first game of the 2011 State of Origin series! Leading up to Game 2 on Wednesday 8, June, the State of Origin team took to the flood ravaged town of Emerald to bring back a little bit of spirit to fans – young and old. More than 2000 adoring fans welcomed the XXXX Queensland Maroons to Emerald. The Maroons were surrounded by supporters a short time after arriving in Central Queensland – many of whom had travelled hours to see their rugby heroes. We look forward to seeing the guys play against the New South Wales VB Blues team at Game 2 of the Harvey Norman State of Origin Series, in Sydney on Wednesday, June 15. C'mon Queensland! Healthy diets suffer from higher veggie prices: In Europe it's the deadly bacteria E. Coli turning people away from fresh produce, here in Australia it's the high prices. Queensland's natural disasters have driven fruit and vegetable prices up by 15 per cent. Health experts are worried that the rising cost of fruit and vegetables is forcing consumers to make poor food choices, especially amongst men. Although it is, for some of us, easier to resort to the unhealthy food choice when we're strapped for time and cash, Health experts recommend we “Go for 2 fruits and 5 vegetables” every day. To beat the pinch and our rushed urban lifestyles some consumers are turning towards online shopping and planning their shopping list and menus each week.

For more information and to register go to: Memorial for Damian Leeding: Thousands attended the funeral service of slain police officer Damian 'Damo' Leeding on Tuesday, June 7. The 35 year old husband and father of two was shot in the face while on duty, attending an armed robbery on the Gold Coast and died hours later after his life support was turned off. As he died serving the community, Detective Senior Constable Leeding will be awarded the Queensland Police Service's highest award, the valour medal. While in his honour, the Gold Coast has promised a permanent memorial, where they will name a park in his honour or build a fixed memorial in his memory. The park or memorial will be a constant reminder of his heroism and also, of the courage displayed by all our police officers on a daily basis.

1. Exercise: You'll have more energy throughout the day and your metabolism with stay elevated too. Exercise also helps your mind by releasing “feel good chemicals” that help improve your mood. 2. Eat a healthy diet: Try complex carbs (whole wheat bread, brown rice, veggies and fruit) and get your daily 8 cups of water. Eating a healthy diet will provide your body with nutrients, and stabalise your blood sugar and energy levels. 3. Get some sun: The vitamin D from the sunlight will help improve your mood. 4. Avoid Binge Drinking: Alcohol is a depressant. Rather than improving your mood, it only makes it worse. 5. Treat yourself: Plan something that is exciting to you – a weekend away, a day at the spa, girls' night out or a sporting event. 6. Relax: Try to spend a few minutes each day just doing nothing and soak up some me time. 7. Get social: The power of people is to be reckoned with. A simple phone call, a chat over coffee, or a nice email can help brighten your mood.

No words in the English language rhyme with the words, angel, angst, breadth, bulb, depth, eighth, month, ninth, orange, purple, scalp, silver or twelfth. Unless food is mixed with saliva you can't taste it. ‘I am.' is the shortest complete sentence. You burn more calories eating celery than it contains (the more you eat the thinner you become). The surface area of your lungs is roughly the same size as a tennis court.

A couple of New Jersey hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn't seem to be breathing, his eyes are rolled back in his head. The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: “My friend is dead! What can I do?” The operator, in a calm soothing voice says: “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead.” There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy's voice comes back on the line. He says: “OK, now what?“ - Voted Worlds Best Joke.
