How to Change Your Life Biblical keys for Transformation & Renewing of Mind & Life Do you wish that you could change for the better? Do you sometimes get sick and tired of who you are, what you have become or what you have or have not done? The Bible reveals that one of the highest and ultimate goals that God has promised each one of us is our transformation and this transformation is accomplished by the renewing of our mind.
1. Why does the mind need to be renewed? a. It is the most wicked thing in the universe-Jeremiah 17:9 b. Those with unrenewed minds are sick in the head. Isa. 1:18 c. A unrenewed mind will always lead you to destruction. Prov. 14:12; Rom. 8:6 The combination of our "deceptive mind" & our “personal opinions” develops into a fixed mindset. Notice what Solomon had to say about this psychotic mindset. Eccl. 8:11 “because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.” This text points out the psychotic mental processing of the unrenewed mind. Lack of divine punishment produces a rebellious mentally in those who live ungodly lives. The mind concludes “if I got away with it once I can get away with it again. Once this conclusion is drawn the mind becomes total set on evil pursuits.
2. Thoughts programmed in our minds make us what we are? Prov. 23:7 3. Our thoughts formulate every aspect of our lives. Prov. 4:23 4. If our thoughts make us what we are and do, we must aspire to develop right thinking. Phil. 4:8 a. A refusal of the civilization of Noah’s day to develop right thinking brought about the total destruction of the world by water. Likewise the refusal of this generation to develop right thinking will bring about the total destruction of this present world by fire. Gen 3:6. Pinpoints that all the evil of that age found its origin in the thoughts and mind of men. b. Scripture reveals that change, transformation, in form of our thinking as well as our behavior comes as an indirect result of a renewal of mind - Rom. 12:2 5. What are the Biblical principles of developing a renewed mind? a. Col. 3:2 - set your mind on heavenly orientated things. b. Phil. 3:19 - don’t focus on earthly thing c. Eph. 4:22, 23- by "putting on" and "putting away." d. Col. 3:10 – by focus on and studying Christ. It is by beholding that we become changed. 2 Cor. 3:18 e.
