SE PASA AL E-BOOK / MAKES E-BOOK MOVE IE University ha llegado a un acuerdo con la editorial Luarna, la primera española cien por cien digital, para que cada uno de los alumnos que cursan el primer curso del Bachelor in Communication reciba un booq, un dispositivo para la lectura de libros digitales que incluye 350 obras clásicas de la literatura y los apuntes de varias asignaturas. Con esta iniciativa, IE impulsa el uso del libro electrónico como una nueva herramienta de apoyo para el desarrollo de los futuros profesionales y emprendedores. Los alumnos que han recibido este dispositivo cursan una asignatura pionera en Europa, Alfabetización Digital, impartida por el profesor de IE School of Communication, Pedro Cifuentes, que recomendó en los nuevos booq el libro What would Google Do? como primera lectura del curso. “Hasta ahora los libros digitales han tenido más aceptación entre los amantes de la tecnología, pero pensamos que es un formato que cuenta con muchísimas posibilidades para los estudiantes de hoy y profesionales

100% digital company, whereby all firstyear students of IE University’s Bachelor in Communication will receive a ‘booq’, an e-book reader which comes with 350 literary classics and notes on several course subjects. The main aim of the initiative is to promote the use of e-books as a new support tool in developing the knowledge and skills of future executives and entrepreneurs. The students who have received the reader are currently undertaking a subject that is the first of its kind in Europe, namely digital literatization. The course is led by IE School of Communication professor Pedro Cifuentes, who recommends that the first book students should read using their new booqs is What would Google Do? “Until now digital books have gained more acceptances among techies than the general population,” says Cifuentes, “but we feel that this format is highly likely to succeed among today’s students and tomorrow’s business professionals.”.
DANIEL CANOGAR EL ARTISTA DESPERTÓ EN IE UNIVERSITY LA MIRADA CREATIVA DE LOS FUTUROS ARQUITECTOS / ARTIST BRINGS OUT THE CREATIVE SIDE OF FUTURE ARCHITECTS AT IE UNIVERSITY Daniel Canogar (Madrid, 1964), fotógrafo y artista audiovisual que se ha convertido en un referente en el campo del arte y de los nuevos medios, se ha incorporado al claustro de IE University con la misión de despertar el espíritu creativo en los futuros arquitec-
tos. Es profesor en Segovia de la asignatura Experimentación, diseñada a modo de taller práctico, que cursan alumnos de segundo año del Bachelor in Architecture, impartido en español e inglés. La parte “presencial” del Taller de Experimentación consistió en proponer a los alumnos
la realización de ejercicios de ejecución rápida, donde los futuros arquitectos tuvieron que trabajar con agilidad con materiales encontrados en el campus de IE University y en sus alrededores, que luego se sometieron a la interpretación de toda la clase. El objetivo era que los estudiantes detecten su mirada creativa como arquitectos y, también, como artistas. Canogar es autor de la obra Travesías, instalada en el Consejo Europeo durante la presidencia española de esta institución en el primer semestre del año. Estudió Ciencias de la Imagen en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, y recibió un Master con especialización en fotografía del New York University y el International centre for Photography en 1990. Actualmente es director artístico de VIDA, concurso anual de la Fundación Telefónica. Daniel Canogar, photographer and audiovisual artist, who has become a reference in the field of art and new media, has joined the faculty of IE University with
the mission of bringing out the creative side of future architects. Canogar teaches “Experimentation”, in the form of a practical workshop, to second-year students of the Bachelor in Architecture, taught in Spanish and English. The onsite part of the Experimentation workshop consisted of rapid response exercises that made the future architects work creatively with materials they managed to find on the IE University campus and immediate surroundings. The objective was for students to develop their creative vision not only as architects but also as artists. Canogar created the artistic work Travesías, now on display in the European Council for the duration of the Spanish EU presidency. He studied Image Sciences at Madrid’s Complutense University and gained a Master in Photography at New York University and the International Centre for Photography in 1990. He is currently the artistic director of VIDA, an annual competition run by the Telefónica Foundation.
