“The only way to do great great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t fount it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” - Steve

I have always been about Positive Mental Attitude, and with that, ANYONE can OVERCOME ANYTHING! Your MIND is a POWERFUL TOOL! I feel that we as a team need to inspir e the next generation of success stories waiting to happen by sharing our own! With hard work, passion and the right attitude, anything is possible! It's easy to give up and hard to push forward. When anything went wrong in my life, my mom would say you have 5 minutes to feel sorry for yourself and then move on, only you can make the changes you want to see in life. This seemed really harsh, but as I grew, I understood it more and more and now find myself saying the same thing to my daughter.

So I ask that you share your story about your personal success. How you started and one of your fondest memories, one of your most heart-felt memories and if you would be willing to share - the moment when you were ready to give up, and what made you push forward, what was that inspiration? We all have these stories, but it is not shared enough, which is why I am publishing this magazine.

Shon Ed

Local Actor and Superstar! His career has exploded in the last 13 months!

Shon Ed McGregory local actor and a superstar! As a kid he played on the playground acting out movies. He was inspired by a movie he saw with Sylvester Stallone “Rocky” which is his all-time favorite movie. “I Loved Rocky”. Shon wanted to be a boxer and act as a boxer. His passion is acting because it is so much fun! “We are never too old to start acting. My dream is to be the next Samuel Jackson, his big break came when he was 45 years old”. Shon recalled watching Sylvester Stallone as a kid and his story was so inspiring, as well as Tyler Perry’s “they both lived in a car, and were broke. I just loved their stories”. Shon started out doing background work in the 1990’s. Although he had not had any formal training, he was connected with a movie To Sir, With Love Part 2 starring Sydney Poitier. Shon’s role was

a student. You can see the movie here: Editorial Reviews from Amazon: In this sequel to the 1967 classic, Mr. Thackeray (Sidney Poitier) retires from teaching at a working-class London school and takes a job teaching at a too tough school in Chicago's notorious South Side. Once in Chicago, he confronts immense challenges as he deals with his new and unruly students and comes face-to-face with his former lover. Then Shon stopped acting, his family became his priority and went into the work force, he worked in finance, got his investment license and enjoyed helping people. About a year ago he saw a message on Facebook that Chicago Fire was looking for extra, so he submitted himself and they offered him the gig.

This was Shon’s first extra job in years, and his passion kicked back in. Shortly after Shon was casted for:  Mind Games  Betrayal  Chicago Fire  Dead Girls  Chicago PD  Doubt  National NFL Commercial  Exxon (several commercials filmed in Chicago)  Inventing Karma  Fraternal Nightmares  Animals  Bachelor’s Grove  Bravo  1Johnny  Divergent (Featured Background Actor)  Bane Rises  The Dark Knight Rises Spinoff  Ninja  The Capones (Cameo as himself)  Goldie  Family Values  A Conspiracy on Jekyll Island ( tt3297382/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_3)  And his latest… Hunter, an independent film being filmed in Chicago right now

Shon has a lot more coming up, but in this industry there are just some things you cannot talk about until they

come out. He has been in 15 independent films, 2 SAG, multiple TV Series, 9 Commercials and counting! As his acting career took off, Shon quit his job and made acting his full time career. “I cannot stress enough that

Shon Ed

To the people that want to get involved in this industry, you have to put in your time, meaning that you will and should do some volunteer work, it’s exposure and that’s how you get casted in bigger roles”. When I asked Shon if he would ever go back to his career, he relied “No, I would never go back! I am more focused and active in the modeling and acting business”. It

was a brave move going into the industry full time, but Shon’s friends, family and most importantly his mother are all very happy for him as well as proud of him. “It’s not about being attractive or your size, it’s about the skill set, impact and drive. There is a part for everyone in this world”.

Shon grew up in Chicago, has 1 daughter who is 5 years old, “She is my world, my life, I love her with my heart and soul”. Shon went on to say “She is the main reason that I want to act, I want her to have a great life”. As for family, Shon has two brothers, one that passed away in the service and his other brother lives out of town. He also has a step sister that died 7 years ago when a truck ran over her and her kids. His driving force is the mother of his daughter, “We have a special relationship, she has my back and she understands”.

Passion is key to success, “I live, sleep, dream this”. Getting to know Shon has been very inspiring! He is a very giving man that does not judge anyone and is happy to help advance everyone’s career unconditionally and without motive, this is an extremely rare quality in a person.

saying that, she can sing and dance. She is in a dance class and is very advanced, she is only 5 and all of the other kids in class are 8 and 9!” I asked Shon if he had any regrets or would he do anything different, his

Shon has been in 15 independent films, 2 SAG, multiple TV Series, 9 Commercials and counting!

Part of what makes Shon the person he is, is his training in Martial Arts, “It teaches you self-control, two wrongs don’t make a right” said Shon. “I was born with a good heart and I like to see people happy. If I can help one person, then I have done my job”.

Shon’s daughter is into acting, he would love to have her in the industry because she is extremely talented “I’m not just

Passion is key to success, “I live, sleep, dream this”

response was “I teach my daughter to never have regrets, learn from your mistakes and most importantly learn something new every day!” In five years from now, Shon sees himself acting more with stars like Will Smith and Tyrese. No matter how big he gets, he will always remember where he came from and will never move away from Chicago. “I might have a house in another area, but I will always come back, Chicago is my home.”

Actors Shon looks up to: Denzel Washington Samuel L. Jackson The Rock Tyler Perry Will Smith Eddie Murphy is one of his best! Shon Strives to be like Tyler Perry

“The man that I look up to is The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, he is one of the hardest working people in the industry. It is my dream to be on top, just like him. I like people that never forget where they came from, just like Tyler Perry. I would love to work with The Rock, Mark Wahlberg, and Samuel Jackson to name a few.”

The man who never sleeps came right from filming all day to the premier of The Capone’s. To the left Shon is pictured with Tony Passarella, Executive Producer And to the right he is pictured with Dominic Capone To the far right he is with Dawn Capone, Dominic’s mother

In addition to working directly with talent and getting them auditions, and booked, Shon makes time to attend to every Photo Shoot, Runway Show, Red Carpet Event, Premier, etc. He supports the talent every way he can. Shon has been known to be filming in Chicago all day and then turn up in Lombard, Glen Ellyn, St. Charles, etc., to show his support.

Networking is key to this industry. Shon has also been instrumental in placing other actors, actresses and models in movies, commercials, runway shows and print ads. While networking, he has had the opportunity to be the sound guy and camera guy on two independent films! Seeing the entire cast and crew’s perception allows you to be a better actor and/or actress.

We are one big happy family in this industry and I tag everyone I can on Facebook to help them get jobs. When doing independent films, you may be part of the cast and the crew, which will allows you to be in the creative end of it and expand your horizons.

There have been some bumps in the road, Shon said “I steer away from any type of trouble and drama”. Three months into acting, Shon thought about giving up, but then thought “If I stop now, then I allowed this person to stop me and I am NOT going to let anyone destroy my dream. So I had a pep talk with myself and got through it the same day. I had to get rid of the negative thoughts.” This speaks volumes about Shon as a person, his determination and his character! Karla A. Couple Fights Anyone that has been part of a couple, know that fights or disagreements are bound to occur; however, this is true for some more than others. Some twosomes fight a little but some fight a lot, it all depends on personalities and compatibility. So, you had a fight with the old boy and you are so miffed you “ain't gonna” speak to him ever again! He said the feelings are mutual and he isn't saying another word either. That was last night and both of you went to bed madder than hell. No good night, no hugs and no cuddles. Plain and simple, you are both mad about who-knows-what. That is the interesting thing about most fights between couples, it starts as something insignificant and blows into something nasty, but in the end, you can’t even remember what it was about. Now it's morning and the kids are already up watching their favorite cartoons. It's amazing how the little ones know how to operate the TV, or any electronic device for that matter. They compromised on their wants and agreed to watch the same cartoons; yet there you are, two adults, refusing to speak to one another while the kids downstairs after a little fussing over what program to watch settled their differences within minutes and they're 8 and 11 years old. So, the kids are able to work things out between each other while you and your grown up big boy don't speak.

What's ironic is neither can remember what started it all so, after a while you make up with hugs, and kisses and a promise to get along. For now the fight is over. You pledge not to relive it all, but if one of you does bring it up you won’t allow it to come between you again, right? Not long after, you do remember that it was about him spending too much time watching football, or was it about his late night out with his buds last week? Then he recalls you were spending too much money, or was it that you were hiding a hefty credit card bill? Whatever the cause, you wonder if there wouldn't be an easier way to solve the problem without fighting. Perhaps discussing things first when everyone is calm and settling whatever “bugs you” before the scenario reaches the boiling point.

I once knew a couple who found a creative way to settle their differences by donning a pair of boxing gloves and duke it out. Of course it really wasn't a solution to the problem but it did get them talking again. In fact it was so comical tossing punches at each other that they ended up giggling and laughing which took away some of the stress. Neither one knew how to box correctly, but the gestures and noises were hilarious. Of course he wouldn't actually hit her hard, it was more like a bop here and there, and she didn't try to connect with him. They just decided that this would give them time to cool down by creating comic relief. After the laughter subsided both sat down and talked things out. Recently, they celebrated their 50th anniversary by showing several videos of their spoof boxing matches. Their children certainly loved watching mom and dad being goofy. The point isn’t that couples should box, but arguments do occur and sometimes lead to major fights. This is a normal part of any relationship.

S'mores outside are a fun treat after dinner 41 W. 379 Illinois 64 St. Charles, IL 60175 (630) 443-8000

What's important is how one handles these fights, even the big ones. Most people when they fight will make up after the air clears and cooler heads prevail. Sometimes fights between couples are irreparable and they head for divorce court, but working things out may be a better way. There are many reasons people squabble about little things like toothpaste in the sink or big things such as infidelity. Spending habits is a common cause of fights between couples. Other common disagreements erupt over the kids. What's important is whether or not we can fix the issues in a relationship? Can we forgive each other for wrong doings? It's up to the people involved and there's no easy answer. Even experts don't always have the answers to what causes fights and what can be done to mend relationships.

Since the beginning of time people have always had disagreements. Some believe it takes maturity on both sides, others say fights are started because of incompatibility between couples. Others even claim a fight is good for the relationship. If anyone truly knows the answer or sure fix for handling differences of opinion, he or she would be a wealthy person. There are countless reasons for a lovers spat, or a huge blow up fight. Everyone is different and thus the reasons they fight are unique. For the most part we can only hope that when we do fight, the consequences are clear in our minds and hearts. We must consider whether a family will be broken and thus be certain that the squabble is truly worthwhile. Only the two people involved will know and only time between fights will tell if their relationship will last.

The Dun and Bradstreet Paydex Business Credit Score The main credit score used in the business world is known as a Paydex score

provided by Dun and Bradstreet. This number assess a business’s lending risk much the same as a consumer credit score reflects a consumer’s individual credit risk. Paydex is essentially the business equivalent of your personal credit score. The exact definition from Dunn & Bradstreet, or D&B is: The D&B PAYDEX® Score is D&B’s unique

dollar-weighted numerical indicator of how a firm paid its bills over the past year, based on trade experiences reported to D&B by various vendors. There are many BIG differences from a business Paydex credit score and an individual FICO consumer credit score.

Consumer FICO credit scores range from 350-850. The Paydex Score ranges from 0-100 with 100 being the highest score you can obtain. Individual credit scores are calculated based on a number of factors. The Paydex score is calculated based on only one single factor; whether a business makes prompt payments to its suppliers and creditors within the agreed upon terms of payment.

Primary Election: March 18, 2014 For yard signs or to volunteer: Email: Phone: (630) 525-1609

Most lenders and suppliers are looking for a score of 70 and higher. Having a score of 80 and above is very good

As you continue to pay your bills timely your scores will continue to raise giving you the ability to qualify for credit in your business name.

Here is a breakdown of how the Paydex credit score is calculated: Payment Expectation

Expect payment may come early 100 Payments generally come within early payment discount period 90 Payment is prompt 80 Payment comes 14 days beyond terms 70 Payment comes 21 days beyond terms 60 Payment comes 30 days beyond terms 50 Payment comes 60 days beyond terms 40 Payment comes 90 days beyond terms 30 Payment comes 120 days beyond terms 20 Unavailable UN UN If you own a business, your Paydex score is essential in establishing new credit and continuing to build credit limits exceeding $100,000. It only takes 60 days to establish a positive Paydex credit score. To start you will first want to apply for a DUNS Number, a nine digit business identifying number, with Dun and Bradstreet. Once your DUNS number is established you will next want to find a merchant who will extend you credit and then report that credit to Dun and Bradstreet.

Once you have positive business credit report to Dun and Bradstreet you will have a positive Paydex score established. You will want to then apply for more business credit and use it regularly. Make sure you pay all payments back early to raise your scores to 80 or higher. You can easily and quickly establish a positive Paydex credit score.

I am 23 years old, I was born and raised in Lithuania. I came to United States in 2002. I have been doing fashion shows for local designers, participated in my college fashion shows. I also did a fashion show where designers had to use Suede's (Suede Project Runway winner Season 5) fabrics. The piece I wore at that fashion show won the main prize and I had a chance to appear at JoAnn's Fabric store with Suede, wearing the piece that won. I have been in many charity fashion shows, I have been doing a fashion shows to support Lithuanian World Center since 2011, and some photo shoots. Just couple weeks I had a chance to do a bridal fashion show for Taylor Stevens Salon & Spa and also I had a chance to participate at the Raw Chicago Fashion Show, which was such an amazing and incredible experience. I am very thankful to be part of Shooting Star Model, a different shows which gives me a chance to meet different people and get to know the Shooting Star girls better. I love getting feedback, I believe that’s the only way to improve of who we are, "Life does not come with instructions, and therefore we are here to create our own”

Dahlila Nunez, 18 is from Aurora IL. She is a senior at West Aurora High School. This is her first year in modeling and under the mentorship of Karla Reiss-Sitko and Thomas Jerusalem, AKA “Jerry” of Shooting Star Studios she has developed her unique style and has been published in various publications. Dahlila loves the thrill of the runway and being in front of the camera. In her spare time, Dahlila is passionate about travel, art and photography. She hopes modeling will open up doors to new friends and travel opportunities.

I am Mary Peters, a 36 year old stay at home mom of 7 just starting out in the field. I have been an Extra on The Capone's as well as Chicago Fire. This show was my first experience walking the runway.

Erika Rieck Ever since High School I have wanted to be a model, early on I met set backs and was held back by different situations in life and family. I set a goal in my life to never quit and to follow my dreams no matter what gets in the way. Modeling is my passion and my dream but I wanted another skill to have so I became a certified Nursing Assistant, so that not only could I follow my dream of modeling but, on the side I could help people. In the last two years I have met walls and doors but I have broke through them all never settling down. I have been pushed by my friends and loved ones when things seamed hard and in the last couple of years I have been able to get on the road to my dreams of modeling and this road has become a highway filled with wonderful and exciting opportunities and I can not wait to see what happens next in life.

I then married my wonderful, adorable husband (a Donny Osmond look-a-like who sings), we started an Auto Dealership, had 3 incredible children and in between my Full-Time Mom position, (and parttime business assistance), found time to work out, dance and perform in various mini shows (with lots of help from many babysitters!!). I also became a Real Estate Broker and quickly realized I didn't have time for this "more than Full-time" career, so, I tried bartending; another career path that didn't flow well for me. I began "Hot" Yoga after an injury and found a new, passionate way of keeping in shape (and healing my injury). My youngest son has become passionate for the acting world which has driven me back into the performing arena. I'm excited to say I have signed with Shooting Star Modeling & Talent in November, 2013 and wish to pursue print ads, commercials and TV. My first Photo Shoot was on January 23, 2014 with Thomas H P Jerusalem (Jerry), "A-MOMENT-IN-TIME" Photography. So, here I begin a new journey................................................ Alexys Destiche is a talented actress, singer, and athlete who lives in Racine, Wisconsin. She attends the University of Wisconsin- Parkside as a freshman, with hopes of obtaining a major in film, and a minor in acting. She first appeared in a school production of Pirates of Penzance as Jane in the fourth grade, and fell in love with acting. Since then, Alexys has appeared in multiple plays and musicals, including; A Piece of My Heart,

Curtains, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Anything Goes, and more! She is also experienced in soccer, softball, and a nationally recognized cheerleader. Although Alexys enjoyed her years as a stage performer she has high hopes of transitioning into a broad film career for both television and big pictures alike. Most recently she has appeared in a couple national and local commercials, and as a recurring extra on Chicago PD. Along with her recent acting career she has been introduced to the modeling world, appearing in hair runway shows, and local artist portfolios. This is only the start for Alexys Destiche, and we hope to see her acting career thrive in her upcoming endeavors Dominique Jirri I am a thin petite model based in Indianapolis, IN but travel to Illinois often for modeling jobs. I been modeling about 3 years on and off mainly doing hair modeling and now currently working as a print model. I am particularly interested in fashion shows, commercial/print modeling, and TV/Film. I have modeled in several fashion shows and done some print work for magazines and would love additional work in these areas. I also have worked as an extra a couple of times and have been featured on a popular TV show currently on NBC. I really enjoy working on set and would love to explore further. Modeling is something I do mainly to be someone women can look up to. I want to be an example to younger women and teens struggling with self-esteem and confidence issues. I want women struggling in these areas to know that they can be whoever they want despite the way they look. Women should be able to be comfortable in their own skin without people judging them. I have a great personality, easy to work with, committed, and enthusiastic in all my work. I have faced very hard challenges in life which only made me stronger and wiser. My life experiences make me who I am, because without them change isn’t possible. You live and you learn from mistakes and try to be a better person than you were yesterday. Once I realized that I was in control of my life, I stopped letting fear shadow my journey and begin to let confidence reveal my future.

2014 VINTAGE SALE FEBRUARY 21 - 22, 2014

What is forgiveness? It means just that, to forgive, to not hold a grudge or dwell on something done to you. How often do we suggest to someone that we need to forgive another? Forgiveness is not an easy thing, especially when someone has been hurt. None of us are perfect and we've all said and done things that most likely hurt someone else. These acts are not necessarily on purpose but we harm another person without knowing or realizing the pain we caused. It may be something we said or did without intention

I think of Amy and Leo who seemed happily married, or so we thought. Amy and Leo were planning on moving after he took a new position in the company. Leo was offered more money and so Amy willingly gave up her job so she could be with her husband of six years. Leo accepted his new position as plant manager in the company and they were elated because that meant they could finally start their family. Amy wanted to save up some money so she could afford to stay home with their first child. While things seemed to be going well in Boston for Leo, Amy stayed behind until they could sell the house they had been living in. On weekends Leo flew home to be with Amy and worked hard on packing up their belongings. It would be several more weeks until Amy left her job behind and joined Leo for good. For the next few weeks Amy trained a new girl to take over her job. Peter, Amy's boss really didn't want her to leave and so he wanted to talk about the possibility of working remotely from Boston. Peter invited Amy for a drink to discuss her departure. She had known Peter for several years and knew he was happily married. He told Amy how much they would miss her because she was extremely valuable to the company. He even offered Amy more money is she would

continue working because Boston was only an hour away. Amy considered the offer but didn't like the idea of an hour commute knowing that traffic would be a big hassle. As they sat chatting and exchanging ideas, Amy realized they’d been there almost two hours and told Peter she needed to get back to the house and pack. Peter offered to help her and told her he would follow her home.

Amy felt no threat by his suggestion and left with Peter following behind. When they arrived at the house they got to work packing and continued talking about the good old times they had in the office. Maybe it was denial or wishful thinking that nothing more would occur, but before they knew what was happening, Peter took Amy into his arms and kissed her. Being a bit tipsy from having two drinks she wasn't resisting much and before long they rolled into bed. The next morning, Amy awoke and was horrified and what had occurred. She begged Peter to go and insisted this would never happen again! Peter left apologizing and asking for forgiveness.

With the horrible mistake behind her, Amy and Leo finally moved into their new home and things appeared to be wonderful, or at least on the surface. Amy was in her fifth month of pregnancy but instead of being elated she was overwhelmed with guilt and remorse. She lost weight instead if gaining. Her behavior was radical and she experienced fits of crying. Leo worried about her but figured it was all just part of being pregnant. One night Amy could no longer contain her emotions and blurted out to Leo what she had done. Shocked and in disbelief Leo stared at her.

Amy never dreamed she would see this much pain in her husband's face because of something she had done. He left that night and checked into a motel. Amy was at loss as to what she should do.

Come to my no-sheet White Sale.

Baby Elise is crawling around and smiling through her tiny tears. She's teething at five months old and not liking it one bit. Amy just finished putting on some teething medication and hugs the child with the reddish golden hair. Amy thinks of Leo who also has bright red hair just like Elise. He has never seen her but Amy knows he would adore her if he did. Elise has been a joy in Amy's lonely existence since the night Leo walked out on her. Each night Amy prays for Leo’s forgiveness but every day she gets closer to giving up hope. It was her mistake and she can’t even forgive herself, it was unforgivable so how could she possibly hope that Leo could do it?

A knock on the door snaps Amy back to the present. She looks through the peep hole and her eyes widen in disbelief while her hand fumbles for the doorknob. Swinging open the door her heart skips a beat because in the doorway stands Leo with flowers in one hand and a bag of toys in the other. "Amy,” he begins. “Please forgive me." Amy, without hesitation, throws her arms around Leo crying and asking for forgiveness. After putting Elise into her small crib together and talking most of the night, Leo and Amy sat holding each other. Leo forgave her because he was in more pain being away from Amy and his baby girl than being with them. Yes, there was no doubt that Leo was the father of Elise. Amy begged forgiveness and she got it. Elise stamps her tiny foot because Leo Jr. took her doll and she doesn't like that!

No towels, either. Just wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, prom and ball gowns, as well as a couple of slinky 1930s screen siren dresses. All in glorious white. At up to 85% off retail.
