Fall & Winter

Your Complete Guide For Sports, Activities & Events in Northwest Colorado

News From Parks & Recreation One of the attributes that make our community GREAT is the people and organizations that rise to the occasion to enhance the quality of life for others. A great example of this community support is seen through the Craig Parks & Recreation Department’s scholarship fund. Monies for this scholarship are obtained through grants, community organizations and private donations. The Parks & Recreation Scholarship fund is designed to offset the registration cost for families with financial constraints, so their child can participate in the numerous programs Parks & Recreation Department offers. Without this scholarship fund, families in need of this support may not be able to participate in the programs that are offered. For additional information on the scholarship fund or any other program or activities that are offered, please feel free to contact Craig Parks & Recreation Department. Parks & Recreation

Our Mission is to provide a variety of safe, modern, affordable Parks & Recreation facilities and activities that will enhance the quality of life, by promoting good health and well-being for all citizens and visitors in the city of Craig.

Program Registration

Registration for all programming begins upon receipt of the “Play by Play Fall & Winter Guide.” Payment is required at time of registration. Every effort will be made to accommodate participants with special needs. You can now register online at: www.ci.craig.co.us or stop by our office at: 300 W. 4th Street, weekdays from 8am to 5pm. Our offices are located downstairs in City Hall. We accept Master Card and Visa. We DO NOT accept phone-in registrations. By participating in the City of Craig programs, participants may be photographed for future publicity or recognition of events. By signing up for programs you automatically sign a waiver that grants Craig Parks & Recreation Department permission to use your photograph to promote our programs. Pictures taken in specific programs may be used for up to 10 years.

Refund Policy

A full refund will be issued for any program that is canceled by Parks & Recreation or if requested 24 hours prior to the start of the program or class. NO REFUNDS will be given on withdrawals on or after the first day of any program.

Game Cancellations

For game cancellation, please call the Craig Parks & Recreation Department’s rainout hot line at (970) 826-2029. Decisions will NOT be made until 4pm.

Once I Register My Child For A Sport or Activity, What Should I Expect Next?

You’ll receive a call from your child’s coach within a couple weeks following the registration deadline in whichever program you have registered for. Your child’s coach will set up practice times and location. Coaches will receive handouts prepared by Craig Parks & Recreation to give to parents on the first night of practice. The packet you receive includes the following: Game schedules, rules of the sport, picture information, code of conduct for parents and Craig Parks & Recreation program philosophy.

What If I Don’t Hear From My Child’s Coach?

Notify Craig Parks & Recreation at 826-2004. We will make sure that you are informed of your child’s practice time and location. PLEASE NOTE: When registering your child for any program, please notify us of any outdated/ changes in telephone numbers and address. We strive to make sure participant information is up to date. Also, this will alleviate any confusion for your child’s coach when contacting you.

Why Does Craig Parks & Recreation Have Deadlines For Their Programs & Activities?

When organizing a program/activity we need a schedule so we have adequate time to organize the activity. Typically, deadlines are one month in advance, so we can start preparing for tasks such as: formatting teams, ordering equipment, t-shirts, make sure we have adequate coaches and other supplies needed for that particular program.

See What’s New! Like us on Facebook Waiting List For A Program Or Sport?

A waiting list is used for potential participants to get on a team/program after the registration deadline has elapsed. However, not all participants on the wait list will get to play. This may be due to a high volume of players.

What Is A Late Fee?

A late fee policy encourages participants to register before the deadline. After the deadline has passed, Craig Parks and Recreation often must reformat rosters, schedules and order extra equipment. All of this is very labor intensive and puts the program/activity behind the scheduled start date. A $10 registration fee will be assessed on any registration taken after the deadline.
