Ionia County Community Foundation awards 2020 grants to area non-profits The Ionia County Community Foundation (ICCF) awarded 22 grants for a total of $32,205.94 to local non-profit 501C3 organizations for 2020. The eight largest grants (in excess of $2,000 each) will fund the following projects: Great Start Collaborative for its Transition to Kindergarten Backpack Project, $2,800; Ionia County Dolly Parton Imagination Library, $2,500; Portland Community Fund, for food and supplies for weekend meals for insecure children in Portland Public Schools , $2,500; and Manna’s Market, Inc. for its efforts to provide food, toiletries, clothing & baby pantry items to Ionia County families

Portland St. Patrick´s High School is the recipient of a $1,500 grant to upgrade the table tops in its science lab for student safety; Emerson Elementary School received a grant of $1,250 to add Gaga Ball equipment to its playground. Lake Odessa Community Library was granted $800 to help repurpose existing space into a Quiet Room. Woodview Elementary in Belding received $504.99 to provide video production capabilities for students. Belding High School was awarded $400 for its Broadcasting Class. Five grants of $500 each were awarded to: Lakewood Public Schools, for its Help Our

Students Test Better program; Portland Middle School, to purchase equipment for its Robotics Team; Ellis Elementary in Belding, for its Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) Room; Belding Schools, for its Flexible Seating for Engaged Learning; and Twin Rivers Elementary, for Library Books for Kids. RAVE, Relief After Violent Encounters, received $1,925 to replace furniture in the safe house and SS. Peter and Paul Catholic School received $375 for participation in the YMCA’s Third Grade Water Safety Program, both from the ICCF’s Healthy Youth/Healthy Seniors Fund.
