it was such a major turning point in my life. Jordan : What would you say your main inspiration is? Xaviar : I get such a thrill from taking an idea that’s no more than a sketch on a white piece of paper and creating something someone will enjoy wearing. Every stage of that process is still exciting for me and is so enjoyable. Jordan : What would you say your design niche? Xaviar : Very realistic leather. Jordan : Does your XTC style reflect your RL style? Xaviar : The style of the stuff I make must pass one litmus test before I invest the time to create it. I draw in out on paper and ask myself, “Would I wear that in RL?” After looking through my inventory, it was clear that the items I wore most (from other designers) were not the wild costumes but rather the high87 | ICON lifestyle magazine | September 2009
quality simple things that don’t tend to have twenty flexi prim attachments. My female line must pass a similar test, “Would I want my significant other to wear that?”. Jordan : You have recently started designing for women. What was the inspiration behind that? Xaviar : I saw Kate Beckensale wearing a corset in the movie “Underworld” and I was blown away. I made that for a friend and we both nodded our heads saying, “Yeah... I need to make more”. Jordan : What is your favourite creation? Xaviar : Gemini. Its a catsuit that incorporates all of what I want in my outfits. Simplicty: only an undershirt, jacket (with build in belt) and pants. Texture: the ribbed leather creates such dramatic 3D effect. Attitude: I swear people act differently as soon as they wear it out.
