THINK LIKE AN INSTANT BILLIONAIRE

In sifting through emails from a R&D survey I launched a couple of years ago, I read the responses, and honestly, I wanted to cry. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not that I haven’t been aware that most solopreneurs have very low expectations of what could be made in self-employment (I’ve been at this for almost 10 years after all!), but I just didn’t know how LOW. Until I got the responses to the following question: “What is the most amount of mo-ney you see yourself making as a self-employed person?” Not just this year, but EVER. Close to 200 solopreneurs (mostly female) wrote in and shared with me their “Most-I’ll-ever-make-in-a-year” numbers. What shocked me was that the number itself was really LOW and the majority of people wrote in numbers within a short range: between $50,000 and $75,000. Sure, a couple of them wrote in
$150,000, but even THAT seemed like a far cry from what I *know* is possible, when you shift the way you work, get good marketing in place, create systems for everything, outsource, and set up leveraged and passive streams of in-come.
reach in my private practice, she asked me to pretend I was an instant billionaire. The goal was to expand what I believed was possible for me and to do it in just 5 minutes’ time.
But what really got me choked up was they didn’t BELIEVE it was possible and worse, some didn’t feel they deserved it. Their MINDSET wasn’t accustomed to thinking BIG, and truthfully that made me very sad, almost depressed. So I went about adding it to my Client Attraction coaching curriculum.
Essentially, this Billionaire Game was about tapping into my every wish, desire, dream, and hope I’ve ever thought about. Where I wanted to travel, what I wanted life to look like, what I wanted to have, how I wanted to set up my business. What I liked about this exercise is the 5 minute limit didn’t allow me to think too much and instead to just do it.
I had to find a way for them to stretch their thinking of what might be possible for them. Then I thought of an assignment I’d gotten years ago from my very first coach, Talane Meidaner, author of Coach Yourself To Success. Back when $3,000 a month seemed like a BIG goal for me to
So, I set my timer and frantically wrote down all the things I wanted for my life, and my business. It was a LONG list, and when I was done, it felt actually freeing to see what I’d written down. What I realized is many of the things on the list weren’t that far of a stretch, and I could live many

of them NOW, if I made a few changes. But it also got me to start dreaming and imagining BIGGER things for my life. The coolest part is it helped me expand what was possible for me. Things aren’t THAT out of reach and you can live a billionaire lifestyle now, which then feeds your mindset even more that you DESERVE to make more. When I look back at the list I wrote back then, it’s really cool to see I’m pretty much living that exact life now. (Although I still don’t have a live-in spa chef and haven’t traveled to India and Vietnam for a month each yet, but those will come.) Your Assignment: Give it a try. This game will help you get past your restrictions around mo-ney. Grab a paper and pen. Imagine you’ve just become the billiondo11ar lottery winner. Not just a mi11ion. You now have more mo-ney than you’ll ever be able to spend. The condition of winning; however, is you must write down 100 different things, whatever you want to be, do, or have on a piece of paper, and you have only 5 minutes to do so. So write fast, without over-thinking. Remember to write down every wish, desire, dream, and hope you can possibly think of. Set the kitchen timer and see if you can come up with 100 different things. Don’t worry about any practical considerations of your list. Don’t let anything limit or stop you. You can do, be, or have anything you want. This is about expanding possibilities. Most of us start out way too small.

When we hear talk about 'mindset' it is most often about the mindset of success - millionaire mindset, entrepreneur mindset, growth mindset a mindset that helps you become all that you are capable of being in your business or career. But what about the 'joy mindset'? The mindset that helps you enjoy your life to the fullest. Because who cares how successful, grown or entrepreneurial you are if you are not enjoying life? When I started coaching, it astonished me how often clients would put aside enjoying life in pursuit of a goal. "I'll enjoy life when x, y and z are in place". Why wait? Why wait until the ducks are rowing (or whatever the saying is) to feel good in your life? Why not be happy on the way to your fabulous goals? (tip: joy makes those goals easier to achieve!) Here are 10 tips for cultivating a mindset of Joy: 1. Lighten up - other than death, divorce and illness, most things aren't that serious.
2. Be yourself. Don't try to 'fit in' or pretend to be someone or something else - it takes too much energy and it's no fun. You are unique and fabulous, and the more 'you' that you can be, the happier you will be. 3. Learn what makes you beam with joy and add those activities to your everyday life. 4. Find the people who bring you joy and spend more time with them. 5. Get rid of the people and activities that suck out your joy (you don't have to divorce or leave your job immediately - start small and build up to the bigger changes - the more joyful you are, the easier change is). 6. Listen to the whispers of your heart and soul and go after your Big Dreams - Big Dreams are Your Life's Joyful Adventures. 7. Clear out any beliefs and attitudes that say you can't enjoy life right now because you don’t have the ideal income, relationship, job, house, car, cat, weight, wardrobe or whatever. Life's
never going to be perfect, so enjoy it now anyway. 8. Create, play, dance, sing, laugh (a lot), be silly and goofy - kids do this naturally, it's why they're so joyous. 9. Imagine the most joyous you possible, and live how she would live. 10. Do all of this in the spirit of fun, otherwise you missed the point!

YOU ARE MEANT FOR A BIGGER POND
But you know what? You are meant for a bigger pond! And to swim in that bigger pond you’re going to have to do things differently than you’ve done before. Your ideal clients are OUT THERE. They may be across the world, or they may be in your backyard. Either way, they may be desperately looking for someone like you but can’t find you. I know you are a dedicated, persistent and passionate entrepreneur. And the world needs you. But are you playing small? Playing small means staying “safe” in your business and not being too big or bright because that’s too scary. You may be getting just enough business to limp along. And the thought getting more visible with your marketing makes you want to throw up. You may have launched a program and it didn’t go so well so now you feel like a failure. ‘The more I practice, the more abundance I allow to flow into my life’
PRACTICING SUCCESS “The more I failed, the less I believed... and the less I believed the more I failed. So on the floor I knew I had one thing right. It WAS my fault.”
I don’t know how I got on the floor. I just remember that if felt good -safe and stable, like a memory of my childhood hiding behind my bookcase hoping not to be found. Something was wrong and I was pretty sure it was me. My business was failing and I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. My marketing was impeccable (hello... I’m a Marketing Coach). My website was beautiful. My programs were relevant and really really good. I was networking, getting fans, Tweeting like a mad woman. I was taking all the right steps. But I wasn’t making money. I was getting an occasional client but that was it. I supplemented my income with consulting gigs. But
the big dream of being a coach and changing the world one person at a time? Well I was getting no where fast. I was also getting no where slow. I was just no where. The more I failed, the less I believed. The hazier the vision became and the worse I felt about myself. And the less I believed the more I failed. So on the floor I knew I had one thing right. It WAS my fault. I wasn’t sure I had the power to change it, but I was sure I had to try. I figured I couldn’t help anyone when I myself felt like ground up glass so I became obsessed with my mindset. I started paying attention to my language and to my blocks. I started eating books on the subject, listening to events, buying programs.
wouldn’t really do that, but I would have seriously considered doing it. Things began to shift for me very quickly. My client roster started filling up. My tele-classes required bigger lines. My income was 437% more in one month than in my entire first year. But here’s where it got tricky. At first the success was really exciting. Every time my PayPal app went off I danced with joy! This mindset stuff was working! Years of struggle and all I needed to do was a bunch of selfdevelopment exercises? Sign me up! So I started getting more relaxed about the exercises. I was succeeding so I didn’t really need to work so hard at my mindset right?
Ultimately I decided to hire a coach who specialized in mindset because I knew in my heart that it was the last piece of the puzzle for me. I wasn’t earning the money to spend on the coach and yet I couldn’t NOT do this. I couldn’t fail. I felt like it was my last chance.
Then I started getting stressed... like what do I do now? Do I need an assistant? Maybe I should redo all of my packages... thousands of millions of little details started flying through my head, pounding and overwhelming me. And the funny thing was - they were all totally unnecessary.
I was throwing everything in my power at my mindset. Affirmations, energy work, EFT (which by the way makes me feel like a jack-ass, sitting there hitting myself - but I do it!), meditation, writing down my goals, writing down a number goal daily, creating charts to track my money and vision boards to track my dreams. Listen, if my coach had told me to sit naked in the Sahara Desert for 24 hours I would have done it. Okay I lie, I
I wanted to change things because despite evidence to the contrary, I couldn’t believe that I could be succeeding by simply changing my thoughts. The old demons started to pop up and they brought with them a pause in my escalating success. Different level - different devil.
So I went back to hitting myself (EFT) and all of the other mindset tools in my kit and went back to the upwards cycle. And breathing - lots of deep breathing. As I sit here writing this today, I have just signed a contract for the location for my first conference coming up later this year and the iCoach Network has grown to around 500 coaches around the word. I breathe into my day. I remind myself all day everyday to change my language. I’m not perfect... and I continue to practice. And the more I practice the more abundance I allow to flow into my life. 85% of my success in life are mindset and the other 25% is inspired action.
Ultimately this means that I can never stop practicing. While some things become more automatic I understand now that my mindset is like a muscle and needs to be exercised regularly. THE SECRET FIRST STEP TO MINDSET MASTERY When you think, without challenging your thoughts, you are thinking subjectively. Now, that you are older and wiser, it is time to check in on these now deep seeded scripts and see how accurate they are. This is known as objective thinking. If your thoughts are accurate and supportive, keep them. If they are not true, discard them and replace them with more positive, meaningful ones.
I’m often told ‘But, Laura, I simply can’t hear myself think” And THIS is the wonderful secret to the first step of Mindset Mastery: Objective Thinking. We actually really do listen to ourselves all day long, every day. What have you been saying to yourself for the last 10 minutes, 10 days or, better yet, the last 10 years? We all have ‘scripts’ that run through our heads. Understanding and correcting (if necessary) these scripts is the most CRITICAL piece to understanding how mindset factors into your life. Most of these scripts were formed at a very young age. They were influenced by your family, by your friends, and by society. And, they probably were not very supportive if indeed accurate. Think back. Did you ever say “I’m ugly,” “I’m not good enough?” No doubt you said something like this and it was as far away from the truth as it could get.
Thinking objectively is a skill that is acquired. Like any skill, with a little practice, it becomes much simpler to do. Objective thinking is the first step in mindset mastery that allows you to find out who you are. It allows the constant chatter to quiet down. It’s in this process that you can begin to really hear the answers to your questions. It’s in this space that the best decisions are made and the best course of action to take is made. WHAT YOU ARE REALLY SELLING WHEN YOU ARE SELLING YOUR SERVICES Let me cover the things you need to be ‘selling’ other than your services. 1. Sell yourself on your own value. If there’s a little smidge of doubt that you deserve the $ you are asking for or wish you could receive; you will likely have a breakdown here. Ways around it? Get your best clients to tell you what they got as a result of the work you have done with them. Ask others, because if you are like most, you are under valuing yourself and are leaving a ton of money on the table. 2. Sell them on the tangible transformation they receive from your work together. Here the goal is to help your prospect understand that they are not just buying xyz services. They are buying a transformation. Whatever biz you are in, you should really dive down and discover what is possible in terms of this. An interior
designer? You could be transforming living spaces so there’s more peace, fun, and laughter in a home. Business coach? Transforming someone’s business so it’s profitable enough to live the life desired. Instead of selling by the hour, or by the service, sell the transformation and you’ll get much further. But here’s the thing with transformation….sometimes it’s messy! Very often there are breakdowns, regressions, and it seems like nothing’s happening. That’s why #3 is so critical. 3. Sell the journey. Hey, we all want the fast, easy, get-it-right-the-first-time version. But that’s not how things go. Every single business I work with gets put through my DIG-EXCAVATE-RENOVATE™ process. That means we have to dig up old things that are not working like beliefs, or systems, or business models. We then pull those blocks out to examine and rework them. This could mean that we have to re-do the website or look at marketing that isn’t matching them any longer. Very often it means that I’m pushing new parts and new skills that feel undefined so there’s a lack of confidence that shows up. Finally we renovate and rework it so the finished product is a good one. So I always explain the process. I explain that growth doesn’t happen in a straight line, so I sell the journey and advise that it may feel worse, and push them in a way that they haven’t been pushed before. If I didn’t explain and set this up as NORMAL, I’d have
some unhappy clients! But because I set up the expectations in the beginning, when it gets a little hard or they are doing things outside their comfort zone, they understand. Think about how you could sell this part of the process in your own business. Look at the trajectory for the clients you work with. Are there stop/starts that happen? Regressions that naturally occur? Foundational work that needs to be in place first? Make sure you educate on this because you have to teach people how to be clients and what to expect! Once they have made it through the journey, there’s one final thing that you must be selling. Because if you don’t, you might not be getting hired for much longer! Have you ever noticed that very often people are in a different place and they don’t realize how much they have changed? It’s like we are different but still stuck with the old identities or ideas of what we are and what we can achieve. That’s why #4 will justify retaining you, and allow the client to see their progress. You need to: Sell the change. Too often the client is the LAST one who sees the changes. If you are measuring things like increased income or number of new clients in the door it’s tangible and measurable. But we all know that most success has elements of the intangible as well. If your clients are very outwardly focused you will want to constantly remind them of the tiny little shifts/ victories/successes that they have achieved. Ideally…tie it to working with you.
This part of the ‘selling’ is to help validate the great work you have done, but mainly to get the client to own the new things they now have access to. Why is this so critical? Identity. We get tied to our old ways of being and have a hard time realizing that indeed, we are now different! So instead of assuming the client is seeing all the amazing growth, you need to punctuate it. Highlight and
celebrate it! Because once you do, they will, and that’s the greatest gift you can give someone. And keep in mind what you are REALLY selling. THE TAO MINDSET place within ourselves - one that we can connect to through silence and contemplation. Wood: The element of Wood is the element that involves individual purposeful movement. It reminds us that an optimal mindset must express our unique selves and mission in this world. Fire: The element of Fire is the most dynamic, interactive element. It is the element that reminds us to bring our mindset into our interactions with other people and our communities at large.
In Taoist philosophy, mindset is associated with the Earth element. The Earth element represents our material reality and the concept of â€˜motherâ€™. As a mother would nurture a child, our Earth element births intellectual concepts into physical reality. It does so by receiving nourishment from the elements of Metal, Water, Wood and Fire (see diagram below) This cycle of elements is described in the five element theory - which forms the basis of Taoist cosmology and is employed in areas such as Chinese medicine, martial arts, astrology and geomancy. In this theory, Water, Wood, Fire and Metal are integral states of being that give rise to our Earth element, and therefore our mindset. Here are some ways in which we can consider these four elements: Water: The element of Water has depth and fluidity. It describes how we derive the most inspired, balanced mindsets from a deeper spacious
Metal: The element of Metal is the most clear and contained. It represents the importance of having clarity in our mindsets and precisely defining the boundaries of what our mindset is and is not. Â When we have considered all the above four elements, and bring together contemplation (Water), purpose (Wood), interaction (Fire) and clarity (Metal), we will nourish our Earth element. This creates a mindset that is grounded, supportive and aligns with the greater natural world and cosmos we are a part of. Michelle Ayn Tessensohn is a certified coach and facilitator. WHY TAKING ACTION ISN'T WHAT REALLY MATTERS taking a lot of big or bold steps, I was doing a lot of reflection, personal growth and occasionally taking tiny and small steps. I was also growing my offline business and I wanted to get really clear about who I was and what was my unique contribution to help others. During that time I created a system of mindset based action steps that help you clarify and determine your mindset and thus take the right action at the right time.
Take action. Take action. And take some more action! Taking action seems to be the current trendy mantra. Many people encourage you to just take action as if it were some kind of magic solution to creating and maintaining momentum in your business. Of course, taking action is important, but what's even more important is the mindset you have when you're ready to take that action. Sometimes not taking action may be the best action to take. This may sound strange coming from a Momentum Expert, but if you're in transition, reinventing yourself or you've been stuck and unable to move forward your best tactic is to sit still and strengthen your mindset for success. THE MINDSET OF PEACE After my divorce, I learned the real truth: in order to create change in your life, you must create a mindset around what you desire first and then take action. The first mindset I had to make was the acceptance of who I was and where I was in that moment. I stopped the pursuit of perfection and stopped arguing with reality. From the very moment I began to make peace with myself, with exactly who I was on that day, my life and my world changed. Once upon a time, I became convinced that if I had a perfect body, then I would be able to fix my failing marriage. I took all kinds of action in this pursuit. I worked out seven days a week. I spent at least two hours a day at the gym, working with a personal trainer, attending spin classes, and lifting weights. I counted every morsel that crossed my lips and limited myself to less than 1000 calories a day. Then, one day, I realized I had surpassed my goal. I was thinner than I had been since high school and had reduced my body fat to around 11%. And you know what? My marriage wasn’t any better. Let’s be brutally honest. I was a miserable bitch. I was depressed, on edge, and my creativity was leaving me. I had lost my passion for almost everything.
Making peace with your current self doesn’t mean that you are choosing to remain stuck; instead, you are choosing to end the argument with reality. You accept yourself for who you are in this very moment – warts and all. Yep – everything: extra pounds, messy closet, crow’s feet, and grey hair and all. You are choosing a mindset of acceptance first, and then plotting a path to change.On the other side of that fear and perfection is a life that you can be head over heels in love with. REDEFINING THE SUCCESS MINDSET
Five years ago, I was exhausted, chasing someone else’s dream: work hard, climb the corporate ladder, strive for the big house, the nice car, the six-figure salary. At the time, I defined success by what I learned and observed growing up – like so many of us do. But the more I achieved those goals, the less I felt like me. Chasing someone else’s definition of success is like trying to fit into someone else’s skin: it’ll never quite fit and feels gross. The energy you expend chasing something contrary to your truth leaves you wasted, unfulfilled, and quite unsuccessful. Consider your own definition of success. Is it influenced by your upbringing? Your neighbors? Car commercials? MTV Cribs? Whose definition are you chasing? In order to redefine what success means to you, look deeply into who you are and what is really important to you. Consider how you want your life to feel: its balance, its rewards, its freedom. For example, you might define success as doing what you love and knowing that it matters, maintaining blurred lines between work and play, or
building a lifestyle that allows freedom and the ability to meet your financial obligations. When you live by your definition of success, life and work feel delicious and you find yourself naturally motivated. Aligning with your personal definition of success fuels your focus with positive emotions and helps you stay on track. You will connect with your clients and community more authentically – allowing them to clearly recognize that you are the one for them. Your personal definition of success also serves as a barometer – when you know what success truly looks like for you, you’ll recognize when you get there. Heck, you may be there already. I AM POWERFUL BEYOND MEASURE fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. What I learned is that light and darkness cannot exist in the space. It is a conflict of interest to the total body which causes it to be out of balance.
With all the talk about economic growth, small business is big business in American and women entrepreneurship on the increase; I am often asked by others how do I start my own business? As quick as the answer is provided, it is often dismissed immediately. Why? I must let you in on a secret, you are not alone. This is called the shoulda, woulda, coulda club, the special guest is “FEAR” and it resides in our mindset. Fear and self-sabotage are mindset defaults that cripple us from our dreams. It is a sign that our mind, spirit and soul is out of balance. It does not feel good and we allowed fear to control our mindset because we feel unconsciously powerless which causes us to fall short in the pursuit of happiness.
Now that I know this, and accept I am powerful beyond measure, I can summons the universe to align the soul and spirit with mindset to produce congruent thoughts. The universe adheres to its command because our mindset is powerful but so are our words. Because I am powerful, fear and selfsabotage have to leave, I served them an eviction notice and they can no longer reside in our mindset. WILLPOWER TO EMPOWER
What do you think of when you read the word “willpower?” It makes me envision struggle and effort. Makes me think of deprivation, almost like a needed punishment in order to get me closer to some other goal. And unfortunately, it also reminds me of past failures and disappointments. Not a good place to be. As The Nutrition Mom, I often look at willpower and empower from a health perspective, but this can be viewed from anything from business goals to weight loss. Examples might be – “Oh, if only I had the willpower to pass up that piece of chocolate cake to lose weight” or “If I could only stay off of Facebook I’d get more work done.” Shortly followed by the thinking, why oh why don’t I have that will power? What’s wrong with me? Well, guess what? Nothing is wrong with you (or me). We’ve just been looking at it all wrong.
N o w, l e t ’s t a l k a b o u t t h e w o rd “empower.” How does that make you feel? Strong, in control, confident, even powerful? That is a place that I would like to be. So, how do we make that switch? It is all in our approach. Why do we want what we want? What feeling will come with those results? I imagine there are some pretty positive feelings attached to it or we would not want it in the first place. Those feelings are what we will focus on. The potential of what we can achieve, not the focus on what we can no longer do or no longer have to get there. As we envision ourselves having already achieved our goals, we start making choices as that person. And it feels good. There is no longer a struggle and that is where willpower turns into empower. The simplest yet most profound piece of advice I have received so far has been “do nothing.” I was lamenting to a wise teacher about not knowing what to do next, and she asked, “Why do you need to do anything?” This stopped me dead in my tracks, as was intended. “Do nothing?” I gasped in horror, “but, but, but…” My mind was eagerly filling in the blanks, realizing that the game might be up. That the constant driving it does, sometimes out of necessity and sometimes just as sport might be upstaged by, well, nothing. In the busy-ness of your life how often do you “do nothing?” Particularly when faced with a difficult crossroads or major life changing decisions? It seems the constant demand of the modern day has created a mindset to always to do something; to do nothing is a radical suggestion. Next time you have a challenge ahead of you, watch your mind twist and turn at the idea of not leaping into action and not responding immediately.
Yet what if this nothing, wasn’t really nothing? What if it really were something? Something far greater than your mind can fully comprehend, something untouchable, invisible, yet powerful – a force. What if when you do nothing it is indeed something? A space created to allow life to work its delicate, intricate, beautiful and often-magical way. What if to do nothing was really the way that nature intended your soul and heart to flourish; rather than your mind’s insistence on the relentless something – stay busy, keep doing, strive, achieve, sleep, repeat, don’t miss a beat… I am reminded of a quote from Elizabeth Gilbert’s book, Eat, Pray, Love, where her nemesis Richard says to her: “Sit quietly for now and cease your relentless participation. Watch what happens. The birds do not crash dead out of the sky in mid flight after all. The trees do not wither and die; the rivers do not run red with blood. Life continues to go on.” Maybe the something I was doing wasn’t that important after all.

FOUR THINGS TO REMEMBER ABOUT VISUALIZATION simple to make visualization a part of your life if you become aware of these opportunities. 3. Visualization must be felt to be effective. Just like we can pay lip service by saying things we don’t truly mean, it is also possible for visualization to be superficial. Visualization is effective if you do it in way that generates allowing Emotional Energy like excitement, inspiration, motivation. The goal is not to make believe. The goal is to make BELIEF until you can feel your desire's creation and become mindful of its presence in your life. As you use visualization as a manifestation tool in your life, keep the following in mind to ensure you're doing it right! 1. You are already visualizing. You don’t need to learn how to visualize—you are doing it automatically, either consciously, or subconsciously. If you're thinking about your day tomorrow, your next meal, or a rock on your ring finger, that's visualization! The key is shifting from visualizing the things you don’t want, to clearly seeing those things you do want. 2. You can visualize on the go. Unlike some meditations, which require you to be still and quiet to be effective, some visualizations can happen anywhere. You can multi-task visualization into your day by incorporating it into your daily routines such as showering, brushing your teeth, washing the dishes, and so on. It really is
4. Visualization is not enough. Visualization alone is not enough to manifest a desire. Think of it like this: You can’t build a house with JUST a vision. You can’t build a house without one either. You still need a plan that addresses all of the other necessary elements: A clear Desire, defined Resources, awareness of Emotional Energy, and your Action. THE NEW GIRL MINDSET you know, the ones that we hardly dare to admit to, as life-long “good girls” – and start living them. Start taking those risks of being, living, doing. Let me give you an example. It’s not quite…well… seemly to say to people, “You know what? I’m absolutely marvelous! What an incredible woman I am!” People won’t quite know what to do with that! And that’s understandable. We must, though, be able to say it to ourselves, and that seems to be a difficult mindset to grasp. But we must.
We were raised to be “good girls”, and that has caused a whole lot of problems! Do we need to know how to behave in certain situations? Yes. Do we need to be able to appreciate and use our abilities to smooth situations? Yes. But do we also need to know when to say no? Do we also need to know when – and how – to “put the oxygen mask on our own faces first”? Yes, and emphatically yes! How do we do it? How do we break out of the mindset of Obedience, and Behaving, and being – oh, that most difficult of words – “Nice”? There are two ways to go for the breakout mode of living with an awareness of our strength, our right to be present, noticed, appreciated, loved and celebrated. One of them is to look at what is not working, and get to work on cleaning it up. The other one is to look at what our true strengths and abilities and qualities already are –
So, the qualities that you are, are these: an Energy of Light, Brilliance, Unique Expression. When you feel that you are unworthy, know that you are in fact Worthiness itself. You are an indivisible part of the best qualities of life itself. And as you know that, and begin to practice knowing that you know it, you begin to take steps. Like standing up in a crowd and saying what you think. Like daring to say “no” in order to honor your needs first. Like saying, “I’m not a ‘good girl’, and that’s a really, really good thing. MINDSET – WHY IS IT IMPORTANT
Talk to anyone who is successful and they will tell you that the key to their success is mindset. Whatever you are thinking about something will have a direct influence on your outcomes. Why is that? From an NLP viewpoint it is all to do with what you are programming your unconscious mind to look for. Every second of every day we have about 2 millions bits of information coming towards us. Just too much! So our unconscious is programmed to filter out all but 135 bits. Our unconscious has many other filters but one of them is dependant on our beliefs which influence our mindset. If you have a negative mindset your world will be populated with things that match those thoughts. On the other hand if you manage your mind, do the work necessary to become aware of what you are thinking, then you have choice as to what you focus on.
A great example of this is an ex-client who on leaving the financial world in the city had begun the search of ‘what next’. All she knew was that she wanted to use her skills in a way that had an element of contribution. She was a serial Radio 4 listener– it was just noise in the background – and one morning something grabbed her attention and she heard a woman talking about the difficulties measuring the financial efficiency of social enterprises. Funny thing was she had never even heard the term social enterprise before. Within a month she was sitting in the cabinet office talking about what she could do to solve this problem. That’s how quickly the world turns around when you purposely manage your mindset. Not only will you notice opportunities that would have passed you by before but you will feel more inspired, motivated and in the flow, all supported by your positive mindset.
