The images have been selected by local artisits Kate Ferry and Paul Schnexnayder and library staff Kristie Rose Trahan and Elaine Griffin. Artists are invited to let their creativity flow as the Martin Collection becomes available for inspiration. Beginning August 15, images will be available for Photosynthesis V: The Grand Finale. Participants will then be allowed to select up to THREE copies from the Martin Collection to begin their artistic journey. Each artist is allowed to submit TWO completed creations to the Main Library between October 29 and November 2; all submissions will be featured in the exhibit that will open on Thursday, November 15, 2012. Interpretations must not exceed 24”x36” or they will not be accepted. Watch for announcements and further information in our newsletter and local papers. This will be the FINAL PHOTOSYNTHESIS, so please plan to participate.

The University College of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will be offering two 14 week courses in partnership with the Iberia Parish Library! Registration for the classes begins on August 1st, 2012. Life Writing-Instructor Kim Graham-Cost for Semester $125 Learn how to capture memories, remember old friends or preserve your unique family history through writing. Iberia Parish Library has been hosting the Life Writing Classes since 2005 and is excited to continue this wonderful program as well as work with Kim Graham and UL. Water Media-Instructor Kate Ferry-Cost for Semester $80 Are you a seasoned artist or someone who is looking into beginning painting? This class will allow participants to explore creating art with watercolors and different techniques that can be used with this versatile medium. Artist Kate Ferry will take you on a colorful journey that is recommended for beginning and intermediate artists. When the renovations began, the books didn’t just pack themselves. Staff worked very hard to clear each section of the library so movers could relocate the shelves.

Delcambre Library Once the old floors were removed, crews had to smooth the concrete and paint walls in preparation for the new flooring. This process took the most amount of time.
After three months, the Main Library is shining and looking beautiful! Thanks to all our patrons and community for being patient. It was well worth the wait!
