01 AGING IN PLACE Interdisciplinary 3 Week Project (Interior Design, Architecture and Landscape Architecture): Spring 2019

Project Location: 916 11th, Nevada, IA SOCIALIZATION | MOBILITY A purpose of the design is to enhance the opportunity for social interaction within the senior communities; taking into account their different levels of comfort, mobility, and ideal social space. The spaces we are creating allow a single occupant to feel connected to the community regardless of limitations. These spaces, along with their diverse levels of intimacy, create a network of wayfind areas that people can find with ease. The design targets senior communities with ranging levels of mobility and comfortability, ages starteing at 60 - 70. Our seniors would be just entering the aging stage and having an active and outgoing lifestyle.

Considering the daylight and space for the social interaction between two residentials, we created unique shape of indoor courtyard called Serenity Garden and placed each duplex in zic-zac pattern to maximize the use of daylight.

SECTION OF THE DUPLEX

Community outdoor social spaces will be setup to accommodate for all levels of mobility and comfortability. We have created different types of spaces with different levels of exposure to create a diverse networks of social spaces and wayfindings.

DUPLEX FLOOR PLAN

Indoor courtyard, Serenity Garden, is a place for the seniors who have low level of mobility to go to community center to enjoy their social interaction.

COLOR CONTRAST It helps to tuning the light from the daylight and filter the glare and bright light, which creates difficulty in seeing objects, moving between spaces.

PHOTOCHROMIC WINDOWS It helps to tuning the light from the daylight and filter the glare and bright light, which creates difficulty in seeing objects, moving between spaces.

PVC VINYL FLOORING High durability, ease of installation, high resistance against dents, ease of maintance, softer surface compare to wooden flooring, and ease of travel (move)

LIVING ROOM (SOUTH UNIT)

KITCHEN Using round edges for the furniture to prevent an injury

MASTER BEDROOM (NORTH UNIT) Using same color palette from living room to make it cohesive

04 ASSISTED LIVING “Pila de Piedra” Two-person Team Project: Spring 2018

Doldam Interiors, which is the firm name that partner and I come up with, has a philosophy that represents stability, uniqueness and adaptability. With this philosophy, we will satisfy the client’s needs and wants and provide the highest level of creativity and innovation. Doldam Interiors inspired concept ideas from historic site and remains that Panama Pacifico has. As time goes, the historic site adjust to the surrounding environment and never be the same as it used to be, but the beauty of it remains. Elders, they cannot be same as they were young, and they need the support as they get older, but still they enjoy their high quality of life. Doldam Interiors is here to support their advanced life. We use asymmetry and contrast to emphasize the design concept.

The site plan on the left shows both community and household areas. However, in this porfolio, household will not be shown since my partner designed it.
