Started Russell Construction Co. the month/year I graduated and have never looked back. Key to the success has been the many ISU Con E’s that have joined the team. Been in the INC 500, ENR top 400, and a few other notable lists, built some spectacular projects in 29 years, but growing talent is the passion.
Mike is the President of two electrical high voltage contractors: Capital Electric Line Builders located in Kansas City, MO and Hamlin Electric located in eastern Colorado. Both companies are a subsidiary of MDU Resources. 2011 was a very challenging year but so far for 2012, work is starting to pick-up in the mid-west and rocky mountain regions.

Mike and Judy are now “empty nesters” and are enjoying the Rocky Mountain life style. Matt is a Captain in the Army, stationed in North Carolina and just completed his second tour in Afghanistan. Megan works in the cosmetic/fashion industry and is also living in the Denver area.
I have been with Ryan 26 years now. The first 23 were a lot more fun than the last 3, but things are looking up. Ryan is on a roll with some great projects and an expansion in Austin, Texas. As of 4/1/11, I’m overseeing design, development and construction nationwide for Ryan. We have 9 offices spread from Tampa to San Diego, which has me living in airports more than I’d like. That will ease up a bit when we move from Illinios to Minneapolis in May of 2013 after my youngest graduates from high school.
