2017 Welcome back to the new term and happy new year. This term we have lots of exciting opportunities for P6 including our new interdisciplinary topic. PE with Mr Ward has now changed to Tuesdays and Fridays. Please ensure that your child has their full PE kit on these days. Music with Mrs Middleton will now take place on a Thursday morning. If children still have their IDL folders at home could they please return them as soon as possible.
Literacy This term we will continue to focus on our reading and writing abilities. P6M will be introducing literature circles to further develop our reading and comprehension skills. We will also be looking to make our writing more advanced by using our VCOP knowledge. We will continue to have weekly grammar and spelling lessons; spelling words will be given for homework on a Monday and tested on a Friday.
If there is anything you would like to discuss, please feel free to contact me at any time.

We will begin the term by looking at Scotland as our focus. Pupils will choose and learn Scots poems and will explore Scot’s language. We will look at Scot’s culture and history and look into Scot’s who have changed the world we live in. After our Scottish mini-topic our context will be Caribbean Islands. We will be exploring the geography and history of the islands and will also have opportunities to explore their culture through dance, music and art. We will then be able to compare and contrast life in Scotland to life in the Caribbean islands.
We will also be linking this topic into our novel study for the term which will be Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. The majority of our literacy lessons will be inspired by this text.

we will continue to use it this term. Children can earn or lose dojo points for various reasons and can then cash these points in for a treat (we decided these as a class). Parents can also link up to class dojo to see their child’s progress. You are also welcome to message me with any questions or concerns on Dojo.
