Term 2 January 2017
Welcome back to P5/4. This term Mrs Bonar will be your teacher Monday to Thursday and Miss Rae on a Friday. We will continue to use Class Dojo to reward pupils and our whole school ELF Ladder as an incentive to work hard and behave well.
CURRICULUM FOCUS We will begin the term with an enterprise topic where the children will plan and organise a Burn Supper. Then we will be learning about The Artic and Antarctica through a new and exciting topic called Poles Apart and hopefully go on a school trip connected to our topic. NUMERACY & MATHS We will continue to develop numeracy skills as a class and the both classes will be using the Big Maths programme. Active learning opportunities such as numeracy games, outdoor activities and problem solving tasks will allow the class to apply their new found skills.
LITERACY & ENGLISH The whole class will work on core language and topic related activities as well as reading group and class novels. They will also get an opportunity to learn French.
HEALTH & WELLBEING The children will be exploring Rights, Responsibilities and Respect and take part in circle time activities.
The P.E. specialist this year is Mr Ward. He will be taking P5/4 on Wednesday and Friday morning.
Mrs Middleton is our music specialist this year and will be teaching the class on a Tuesday.
LUNCHTIME: P4 and P5 will be second lunches this term. Home lunches can be collected from the main office at 12.30.
HOMEWORK Homework will be given out on a Monday and is to be returned to school first thing on Friday morning. Each pupil will receive an activity grid. The children can choose any 3 activities to help them learn their spelling. Maths homework will be given when useful to support learning in class. Occasionally homework related to our topic will be given or a homework challenge.
