authoritarian efficiency 08-09/2012 This research pavilion was organized around an axial circulation system. It is a gradual stair/ramp cross that does several things for the structure. Because it is external, it maintains a connectedness to the contextual elements of the area. This is not only important for the three targeted professions, but also for any research profession in which site interaction will take place. The axial nature of the stair also promotes interesting moment, sight-lines, and spatial flow. The stair provides a systematic solution to weather issues and dictates a vernacular program arrangement. The spaces are functionally arranged with work areas on the ground floor, communal areas at the middle, and sleep spaces at the top.

Nemausus affordable housing 09-10/2012 Jean Nouvel designed Nemausus as a means of breaking out of the traditional social housing block. He strove to create a unique atmosphere and provide a luxury transparent feel while still maintaining a social housing budget. He did this by : Externalizing circulation • Utilizing industrial building materials and techniques • Maintaining orthogonal geometry throughout project •

Engeino Toshi 11-12/2012 T he driving idea of this design was agriculture in an urban environment . T his idea was largely impacted by the context of the site which was L ittle T okyo . T raditionally , the J apanese have treated built greenscape as area for recreation or meditation . M y design strives to westernize and update this methodology for the 21 st century . R ather than treat outdoor space as aesthetic , I instead treated this space in a capitalistic and environmentally sustainable sense . R esidents and nearby inhabitants of the little T okyo area are given the opportunity to grow their own food and even sell produce as a

means of income .
