After gaining some professional exeperience by collaborating with several offices and architects based in Barcelona and surroundings, I have decided to start a new professional and personal period in my life which will take place abroad. The unstable situation we went through in the construction industry gave me the opportunity to collaborate with a considerable number of architects and professionals. Thanks to that I learnt from very different teams and I could be involved in many kind of different projects. That influenced me and my way of working, so I could become an adaptable professional who can easily deal with new and different situations with a wide range of tools and resources.

I am interested in the complexity of cities and society. I enjoy the theoretical approach and to develop new knowledge for each project by finding the appropriate questions. I have worked intensely in refurbishment but especially in reactivating urban spaces with energy efficiency strategies. I find the interest in the physical result, but also in the economical, political and personal decisions that influence our work during the process. I am excited about learning and a person who is always looking for new projects and experiences. I really expect to find these new challenges in the future to be able to keep enjoying the profession.

[Project] The project consists of a new detached house for a young couple with two children in a big wooded plot in the outskirts of Antwerp. The clients collect art pieces and they look for a lot of privacy from the street while having a close and open relation with the garden. The groundfloor is completely transparent to the garden with a fluid circulation between the different spaces. The main entrance is hidden from the street and the opaque walls gives them privacy while they can be used to expose art pieces in the interior.

REPROGRAM

www.dataae.com www.granada82.com [Project] The project is inscribed in the competition held by the Barcelona Municipality to project the connection between the city and the Natural Park through 16 green corridors and facilities. The operation is inscribed in the strategy to convert Collserola to Metropolitan Central Park. The proposal is developed from 4 concepts: - To recover: recovering the different existing natural systems. - To reprogram: transforming the existing city, which is already built - To rethink energy usage: closing the biospheric cycles of the site - To rethink the accessibility: creating a landscape tour and solving the mobility without relying the private transport.

The project is located in the port of Barcelona. It is an industrial landscape with its own powerful language that currently does not know how to dialog with the city. The proposal begins with one intention: to preserve the existing layers of the site while adding new ones. The actual layers will be preserved as long as it makes sense and in any case will try to optimize them with the minimum necessary changes. The mechanism to activate these spaces, which have remained empty, or will in the future, is the introduction of new devices. These devices will perform as citizen focal points within the port and will colonize the industrial buildings with new activities.

I Postindustrial landscapes. business facilities in the harbor I

It is by adding these new complementary spaces (necessary for the new activities) that we can reuse the existing bodies (with its dimensions, materials, conditions‌) with the minimal transformation and investment. The accessibility to these new focal points will be possible with the introduction of a new mobility corridor. This corridor will be like an infiltrating worm that will tie the port with the city. This new mobility corridor gives the proposal an urban dimension which permits the immediate relation with the reactivated spaces. It also provides different speeds for the user and works as a gentle limit between the citizen and the industrial activity.

‘Les Adoberies de Vic’ is an old industrial neighborhood which used to be focused on the leather manufacturing industry for many years. Nowadays it has lost all the industrial or social activity and it has become a waste in the center of the city, just next to the old town wall and in front of the ‘Meder river’. An important discussion started when the city government decided to demolish the area and the citizens raised awareness of the historical value of the complex. After several public complaints, the neighborhood was declared ‘ethnological heritage’ and a sensible intervention was needed.

The project starts from a clear attitude in front of the preexistent: to empty. This means to create new voids inside the built mass. This provides a new spatial, luminous and environmental condition to the buildings. Five ‘key units’ are selected and later emptied to work as ‘covered patios’ and to solve problems such as: the access to the different programs, the vertical communications, the transition between the public and the private or the climatic comfort. But also showing in a new way the preexistent, its scars, its textures and why not, its history.
