Couples by Mario Sughi The Complex, Smithfield 6pm

Dublin-based Italian artist and illustrator, Mario Sughi will exhibit his series of new works in a solo exhibition: Couple at The Complex Gallery. Sughi’s pieces depict characters in scenes of contemporary living. His graphic bold works, rich in narrative detail, unexpectedly convert the viewer to voyeur. Upon first glance the subjects appear in unremarkable routine situations, however upon further inspection, the compositions reveal snapshots of intimate encounters and moments of invaded privacy. These scenes are encapsulated in vivid, arresting colour. 2

A Public Mosaic Group Show 126 7-9pm

126 presents: ‘A Public Mosaic’, an experimental collaborative project of work by NCAD MA, Art in Contemporary World and UCD MA Architecture students. This began with a series of discussion between UCD and NCAD students at Newman House Dublin. Over a period of weeks people worked in groups to develop an experimental collaborative process between visual arts, literature, sound, video, and architectural working methodologies. There was no set remit; it was open ended, debatable, and constructive as a work in progress. 4

From Us, Through Them, To You Butler Gallery 3-5pm

Red Square is a group of 16 – 18 year olds from Kilkenny city and county, brought together by the Butler Gallery. The group embarked on a series of phases of training from February – April 2011, developing ideas and skills for the realization of a Butler Gallery Collection exhibition. A milestone of the project was an overnight trip to the opening of ‘A Sense of Perspective’ at Tate Liverpool, curated by young people. A well-formed group with a whole new perspective on curating, Red Square worked collaboratively as an exhibition team from April to June 2011, debating ideas and choosing work for the exhibition. 5
