NELIGHT Light

What would you see, at night, if you where floating in the ocean? For me, I see the twinkling of a starry sky. This was my inspiration for the light design which comes from night sky. With this design, I have attempted to recreate the impression of glittering stars and the Milky Way. The technique of inflating makes it capable of shrinking and expanding arbitrarily. With expansion, it appears like starts twinkling in the sky. When it shrinks into a band, you can see the Milky Way appear.

TOPIC “Movement is the spindle of this design. It is not only the physical movement, but also the emotional exchange as earlier stated in my presentation. The design was inspired by a news story of a woman who lost her camera in Hawaii in 2007. Unbelievably, the camera traveled approximately 8,000 kilometers over the seas, finally reaching the shore of east Taiwan in 2013, five years later. By removing the memory card from the camera and posting the images on social media, eventually they were able to find the owner and returned the camera.

MIRROR CONTACT LENSES Daily necessities

Mirror Contact Lenses makes wearing lenses much easier. Coating the correct side with sunglass technology, you can now easily distinguish which side is the correct side for insertion. Traditional contact lenses are difficult to determine which side is correct before you wear them. Because the light reflects the incorrect side, like a mirror.

BUS MAP

Public furniture/ Interface design

Bus Map is a system providing the graphical information which provides the bus routes and travel time (including wait and commute times,) and the final destination. In addition, the Bus Map provides a system of notification to inform bus drivers to stop at the proper station for its passengers.

Materials-Solar Panel, Touch Panel, Glass, Stainless Steel Size-4X2.2X2.5(m)

80

PROBLEM “The bus which comes fastest may not be the one which gets to destination most quickly” The bus stop already provides showing how long the time buses is going to arrive the stop. But the different distance buses will take after leaving the stop cause the time it will cost. If we choose the bus which going to arrive the stop fastest but also the one which going most long distance, it’s going to waste your times. “Bus driver does not notice the passenger and not stop” Include high volume of traffic, poor visibility, waving not obviously, is going to cause the bus driver does not notice the passengers and not stop. Passengers avoid not notice even wave the bus on the traffic lane.

LENGTH TELLER Toiletries

By redesigning dental floss, we have been able to cut the waste down to 40% of the current amount of floss necessary. The new design ends the need to wrap the floss around the finger tips on both ends, tie and pull. With the old way, you would use 30-45 cm of floss. How do we do it? The Length Teller uses double stranded floss that is hot pressed at every 15cm to form a loop that fingers can fit into. This new design only uses 15 cm of floss, saving you 60%!

Natural sea salt made from 100% sea water directly from the local coral reefs. Sea water is reduced over heat for three days and then some is baked and some sun-dried depending on the product itself. The salt made from Ishigaki Island's sea water is a mild-flavored salt as it contains a high percentage of calcium compared to other salts due to the high mineral content from surrounding mountains and coral reefs.

THEME

WE CREATE ASIA DESIGN MOVEMENT – BENEFICENCE DESIGN "Beneficence Design" embodies the basic qualities of "good design," and has the distinguishing characteristics of innovation, aestheticism, durability, adherence to every detail and conformity to the concept of sustainability. By incorporating green, environmentally friendly, humanistic, caring and universal design techniques into the spatial, visual and product realm, the use of "beneficence design" can enrich the awareness of aesthetics in society, encourage diversity in design and creativity, and strengthen the environment for the development of the design industry and for the livelihoods of all citizens. We encourage young, talented designer from Japan, Korea and Taiwan, to start from their own country and step into the deeper serious topics in the society. The conversation and interaction with other cultures will help us to rethink and discover the essence of design, and the most important of all to represent the spirit of “We create Asia Design Movement.”

About ADA In 1996 October 21st three major industrial design associations of Asia China Industrial Design Association (CIDA), Japanese Industrial Design Association (JIDA) and Korea Association of Industrial Design (KAID), came together to sign the contract that built a history making bond. 2001 the three major design associations came together to form an organization called ADA, with the goal to promote industrial design through Asia. In the past the top tier designs where predominantly from Europe. We hope to change that and eventually move the spotlight into Asia. The idea of ADA student workshop came into shape in Japans JIDA. After the concept formed into reality the event became such a success, the three associations decided to take turn in hosting ADA student-workshop. We hope this student work shop tradition will help build new perspectives in our younger generation and border their horizons in design.

TEAM INTRODUCTION

Team C- Circus The name of our team is Circus. We come from different country with different culture, we grow up with different background, and all of us are so different. What we do is just like circus, not only combine all the difference into a great show, but also bring happiness and joy to our world. Team Members Honda Jain/ Taiwan Huangyu Chen/ Taiwan Oh Jiae/ South Korea Reina OKAMOTO/ Japan Satoru SHIMADA / Japan Shim Youngwoo/ South Korea Takuya INOKI/ Japan

WHAT DID WE THINK ABOUT

WE CREATE ASIA DESIGN MOVEMENT – BENEFICENCE DESIGN

We already know that Beneficence Design is nearly equal to Good Design. But, what is the difference between them? Beneficence Design encourage people want to use, they enjoy having the experience using this product, they also want to have the experience using this product together with their friend, their family. We take a look at Asia city. What is the point making us so special? Why we are so unique from all other city? In the Asia city, for example, Seoul, Tokyo, and Taipei, people are friendly, they ’re kind, and they treat everyone as family. We think, communication take a large place in our city life.

230

THE DESIGN PROGRESS ABOUT OUR WORK

> We start from brain storming; we chat, we talk, we think about what the “Beneficence Design” is.

> In our viewpoint, the Beneficence Design can be separated into 3 directions, it’s about feeling, to make user happy. It’s easy to use and it is suitable for everyone, and it is going to safe energy not only for human but also for the environment.

BE HAPPY circus share feeling safety emotional everyone enjoy all people friendly sympathy make people closer

SAVE ENERGY bring the nature in to city good for city animal recycle refuse

SAVE POWER eco-friednly low price every body can effort simple&easy convinent all people can use make life easier universal design for every one

ADA 231

> Then we think about is there any issue about our city that we are all face. We find out some similar points by brainstorming. Each of them is pick up garbage, cross walk and power saving.

The power provide by human shaking power, you can shaking with your friends to make more power. The power would be separated into two ways, one for charger and the other for lighting the heart light.

The name of our concept is “i.Shaking”. The Pronounce “I” has different meaning in different language, both in Japanese and Chinese the meaning is love, in Korean it means child. We choose this name because of the design we want to do is making people happy and feel good.

234

THE MOST IMPORTANT BENEFICENCE ABOUT OUR DESIGN

> The most important points about our design are enjoy sharing and closely and create energy and making city more beautiful.

ADA 235

> We design for city and citizen , and we focus on city life > There’s so many smart phone user in city, so we think about charging, is there any things we can think about charging about power saving, and maybe we can add more benefit into this concept. > So we think about sharing power with other and making this using experience really fun really attractive.

236

HOW THIS FORM COMES OUT?

> Light shape The heart shape not only friendly but the curve make it more safe. And we want peple to feel heart touching with each other, and we think that can make city view wonderful. > The chair look like heartbeat, becaues our design base on user, we can’t be a city without anyone. We take this shape as our design because we want it to be more about emotion.

ADA 237

238

HOW IT WORKS?

> When our smartphone have no power, you just have to go to the “i.Shaking”, put your smartphone on the table, ride on seat, and shake! Shakeshake!!!

> We hope there is one day, instate of saying let’s go shopping, we can ask our friend that “Let’s go shaking together! ”

> It can be a public art which based at the center of a park or a square, and the corner of street. > The tall of the heart light is a little bit higher than the top of street trees, so people can see it when they are far away. And it would become a city view in night to make the urban life more beautiful.

WHAT DID I THINK ABOUT

DESIGN AND CULTURE: FOOD “KIT” PROJECT When I saw the theme, I start to think “Is there any connection between design and culture?” In my viewpoint, culture is based on our lifestyle, there is so many different reason like weather, country, religion make our culture so unique from others. And design is one of answers to make our life batter. Both of them have the same ward “life”, and there is where my way getting start. My project is not from a country to another, it’s between two different horizontal line of sight. It’s us, human, and our pets.

Nowadays, there are more and more people who keep a pet as their best friend. Doctors always suggest that people should have food with nutritional balance. In the same time, the advertisement of doggy food also tell us that their products is nutritional balance. This two similar point make me think about is there any way can cook for my dog during cook for myself or even we can have dinner together and bring our human food into dog’s life.

THEME

A TOOL FOR EVERYDAY LIVING Develop a simple tool to aid and assist a task you undertake in your everyday life. The outcome of this brief should be an object which enables the previously mundane task to be carried out with an enhanced user experience and with less exertion or effort. The object will be small in size, roughly no bigger than 30cm cube, although this is flexible depending on your idea. The outcome will be devised directly from the task you have selected, and your concept should be developed from quick models and tests. Three areas to consider when initially approaching this brief, but which are not limited to, are: -‐ Desktop (eg. office desk, workshop bench, kitchen worktop) -‐ Wall mounted (eg. kitchen storage, open plan live/work) -‐ Floor based (eg. office foyer, hallway within the home)
