Hyatt Magazine is a free social and cultural magazine, featuring events, entertainment, lifestyle, business data, leisure, and lore.

“Hyatt” in Arabic Language means Life. Its events and news guide targeting heavy populated Middle-Eastern community in south and south west Chicago Suburb.

Hyatt Magazine published monthly to promote coverage area in informative and positive manner, and it’s distributed throughout the area by several channels (Retail Locations, Medical Offices, Salons, Restaurants, and more) You’ll find our magazine enlightening and interesting articles are written by someone like yourself, who cares about the community. We welcome contributions of articles and photos; however, they will be subject to editing and availability of space and subject matter. Photographs, comments, questions, subscription requests and ad placement inquiries are invited.

On April 14th, 2012, some of this community’s favorite artists performed at the Aqsa Seniors’ Senior Entertainment Night. Among the many artists was Yousef Erakat aka FouseyTube from California, Subhi Taha aka SubeeTube from Texas, Mohammed Omar aka Ugly Moe, Khaled M, Abdullah Shukur, and Firket Al-Azdeekah from Chicago. The event took place at the Rosemont Center with an unprecedented number of 1000 guests.

Guests came from places ranging from Texas to Wisconsin to Ohio as well as Chicago. Guests began lining up at the door as early as six hours before the show.

As security allowed guests to enter and students diligently worked on admitting them, the suspense in the room began to grow. Nearly fifteen minutes into admission, the hall was alf filled. The show promptly began at 6:00PM with the introduction of Ugly Moe, the MC for the night. As the crowd hugged their stomachs from laughter due to his premiere of Ugliest Face, it was time to usher in the next performer, Abdullah Shukur, who sang five songs with utter talent. With the guests amazed with Shukur’s performance, Subhi Taha took the stage. Performing nearly 30 minutes of standup comedy, he had the guests laughing from his impersonation of an airport security guard overseas ignorant of Subhi’s knowledge of Arabic.

After taking a twenty minute salah break, Ugly Moe introduced Yousef Erakat aka FouseyTube. With Erakat’s entrance, not a single person was not screaming with joy. Erakat artfully dressed as his mother and incorporated the guests in his performance. He had the guests crying from laughter. Later, it was time to call Khaled M to the stage. His rapping had people standing on their feet, waving their arms, and moving the beat. His words shook the

ground with his deep message. To finish off the great night, Firket AlAzdeekah performed a traditional debkah. To the guests’ surprise, they twisted the debkah into a contemporary dance strategically designed to catch the guests’ attention. With a riveting end, the Seniors were called to the stage to take a bow for their efforts. The Meet and Greets with Islamic guidelines followed the show as late as 11:00PM. Guests raved about the great fun they had that night. The tremendous turnout proved to be a success for the seniors of 2012.

At least 3,500 people from several states including Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin and New York, attended an outdoor Nakba commemoration event and Palestinian heritage celebration, hosted by the Chicago chapter of the American Muslims for Palestine on May 20 in Bridgeview, IL. A Palestine Parade with floats, horses and Islamic folk songs kicked off the event as it wound its way through a Bridgeview neighborhood. With children dressed in traditional clothing and a multitude of Palestinian flags billowing in the wind, the procession was a lively and colorful way to open the Nakba and heritage event.

The event’s main message was that the Nakba, which began the process of ethnically cleansing Palestinians from their homeland in 1948 to make way for the creation of the state of Israel, continues today because of Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian people. The event also focused on Palestinian cultural heritage as a way to pass it down to subsequent generations through song, dance, food and history.

As always, the most popular feature of AMP-Chicago’s Nakba event was the replica Al Aqsa mosque and Dome of the Rock, crafted by AMP volunteers. Situated in the center of the midway, the replica mosques attracted a great deal of attention as guests stopped to get their pictures taken by the most significant symbols of Palestine. Janeen Badwan, 17, and Ayah Chehade, 17, both of Orland Park; and Saja Hamayel, 15, of Bridgeview, took a break at this site.
