Villa Design-The stage for light (CAFA)

v By analyzing users’ daily performance and studying the local climate, the idea was based on how to take advantage of the various natural lighting conditions through the daytime and benefit to users’ activities.The green house will perfectly provide a stage for the light of life.

Memorial Design for Wenchuan(CAFA)

v Raising the idea that ‘how to heal psychic trauma is far more important than memorial’, make ‘water’ as a media packs the memorial, the visitors will be consoled and baptized when they are walking through the clear or blurry spatial sequences.

v By analyzing the circulation and needs of programs, the student activity center would be designed as a ‘filter’ to separate and mix ‘school life’ ‘dwell behavior’ and’ getting close to the nature’. The idea was to

design a practical hub which provides new visual and using experience by researching refraction.

v Borrowing and studying shibati district-the remnant of Chongqing city-brings the traditional spatial sample with new plot ratio and generic programs. The project focus on ecology and try to sort out the connections between old and new living patterns, raise an ideal urban planning example.

City of Illusion-Line Z(RCA)

v In the background of the society issues, I case studied different public transport in London. The research question ‘how can speed change our experience of the city” helps to design the new transport system-line z(zepplins),which serves for the tourism in 50 years, and the station which contains a gin bar is the sample building for the concept.

More or Less Lewes (RCA)

v By analyzing the implied rules of twittens and looking at other narrow urban spaces from around the world, the social possibilities of the new twittens are intensified. The contemporary withdrawal from society of

the Lewesian middle class (tall garden gates, frosted glass...) is confronted and subverted to make intensely sociable spaces built on the roof of a massive communal car park set into the riverbank. Maybe Lewes’ future social life will occur not only above ground in its new twittens but below ground between parking spaces and supermarket aisles.

For me ,the significance of “ architecture” is not only a “shelter” or a “container”, but also a transmitter which is between nature and urban or inside and outside of ordinary life. It is another life style felt and seen in construction, even “sentimental pleasure”, which I named it “fall inbetween”.

terms of reference connections among the elements

The architectural dimension, which is mainly dependent on the size of the indoor stadium which contains two basketball courts, has a great impact on the urban spaces and city image. Firstly, find out the possibility on the arrangements of the stadium to make the student center tend to be positive to the site.

filling gap The main mass is located floating in the gap between the two campus yard up the green loop, making the high rise buildings in the shade of the indoor stadium.

The site is srounded by four elements, the campus (culture layer), high-rise and low-rise residential area (city layer), the Nanhu park (green layer), I try to build up a new visual and functional connetcion among the elements. The four layers are abstracted into four charateristics, I come up with four words in oppsite to create the feature of student center.

The indoor stadium contains two standerd basketball courts, forming a big volumn.In the project,I want to create a space inside which can provide an interesting sight system instead of the usual one.The generation of the student activity center is more like a melting ice cube--the stadium is a frozen ice,when it starts to melt,some showing parts (like the rehearsal room and dancing room etc)can be seen as water drops existing wonderful relationship between higher and lower position.With the process of melting ,the water drops connect to form water surface,that is a square of landscape.

The project aims at creating a function area for the students. This area would bridge the northern part and the southern part of the campus, providing users with a belt-shaped square. This project focuses on the way to locate the knots on the belt area.

The space of the ground layer is belt-shaped.It is divided into four parts, functional area mixing with water makes the ground layer more sustainable.

The structure of student activity center based on the system of trusses and column beams.Three column beams support the trusses with the floors and roof hanging on them. The elevation is double skined.The two curve facades form the effection of â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;distorting mirrorâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;,mediating urban and school activities.Room between the two facades can be used to posite the lighting,aircondition systems and air energy-storage system for the cogeneration of electricity heat and cooling energy.

The project is located in Copenhagen in Denmark.It is my first time to design a bridge,I feel confused but excited.I grew up in a inland city,so i think people in Copenhagen are so lucky to have water surrounded in their own city.Enjoying the beutiful water starts to be my initial concept. The whole site area is devided into two parts by water.The surroundings in south are residential community,the north are offices and factories. The atmosphere here is peaceful and comfortable.Most people lived or worked nearby are artists and architects,they are love to get closer to the water.

How to float?

With twenty two pontoons the whole bridge can float on the water,at the same time,pontoons can be the elements of the bridge as well.People can not only take the pontoons as the supporting system but also can they use them as a place to lie down and put feet into the water.

The atmosphere of the site reminds me of the experince of visiting MOMA in beijing.Everybody felt excited because of a floating bridge.Floating bridge makes people get wonderful feeling to get closer to the water and stay on it. Conceptual concept generates from the floating but it is not enough to just create a place to have fun,there are some people hoping to go across the water quickly .Then the original thinking is separate the floating bridge into bicycleway and pedestrian for making one bridge fast and stable the other one interesting.

What is the exact shape and location of the bridge?

The bicycle line can be defined by the effect of: the angle that bicycles can take,the scope of the shadow made by the buildings surrounded and enough room that can open the bridge to let ships go through. The pedestrian should get more sunshine,so I make the position of every pontoon by the shadow and connections between the buildings both sides of the water which people may go to.

There will be a party at night.

Bicycle line should be stable and direct to the other side while pedestrian should be on contrary with the bicycle line,the more complicated it is,the more interesting it will be.

The term of reference requires that the bridge can open when there are ships and boats going to go though. In the shape of a poly line, a part of the floating bridge drifting away will change the angle between two parts connected with each other. Openning by this way will be natural and interesting.

In winter,there is strong wind in Copenhagen especially on the water level,wind load will be the main factor affecting the bridge.As a floating bridge of the shape of poly line,I consider if the bridge can change active to stand against the wind,reducing the damage. The way to resist the wind is twisting angle between two parts of bridge as adaptation. The concept moves forward from “floating”to”moving while floats”.I’ll call it “lily in the wind”.

By the cableâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s pulling force,shorten the bar .With the process,the bar makes another horizontal bar move up,releasing pushing power to the girders to change the angle between two parts of bridge.

[ How to heal the psychic trauma is far more important than memorial ] The 2008 Sichuan earthquake was a deadly earthquake occurred at 14:28 on May 12,2008 in Si chuan province and killed at least 68,000 people. Dujiangyan is located in the Min River in Sichuan province,near the capital Chengdu,it was the main city which got the massive earthquake. “Yan”means canal,the Dujing”yan”is known as one of “the three hydraulic engineering projects of the Qin Dynasty”.Water here is the symbol of the city. Water is a kind of media through which objects can be seen clear and blurry at the same time. Memory of the earthquake could be clear and blurry as well.The ruins be seen clear remind the living the psychic trauma from the disaster while be seen blurry tell people that living stronger will be the best respect to the victims.

The memorial is made up by four parts.By the seris of spaces with different height and enviroment people will get the narrative sense of montage. Through a long corridor,the part called”memory “will be shown underwater.In the three pavillion ”inside” and ”outward”will be mixed as both exhibition space.

I design a villa for my parents--Mr. Wang and Mrs.Wang. Both of them are engineers,living in downtown city.They wish they can have a small house in the site as a hollday villa,then they can sp-end weekends there .

Light of the room becomes a important factor of the designing. Because of the cold weather in the winter,the facade should be closed as much as possible while can not stop the brilliant sunshine. How to make a smart facade to satisfy the requirement?

The project aims at creating a villa adapts to the surrounding enviorment and saving energy as much as possible.I design a water system inside and outside of the villa.Water system and the concept of double-elevation make the small house keep warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

By doing research,zepplins are considered as a new possible transport for London in 50 years. The idea flying in low speed on air will bring new experience for the tourists to enjoy London.

Line Z Line Z is the name for the new â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;zepplin tourism transportâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;. Which provides new experience compare with the old transports. The trip for Line Z responds to the new crossrail and will form tridimensional traffic system for London.

Take one stop for line z as an example to test the whole idea which will be a gin bar on Tottenham Court Road used as a station.
