who we are and what we do. The Humane Society of Bay County is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit no-kill animal shelter for local animals, helping to reduce animal overpopulation & abuse through adoption, spaying/neutering, & education.

our services. • Adoptions - The Humane Society of Bay County adopts out nearly 400+ cats and dogs each year. All adoptions are $100 for dogs and $75 for cats and require the completion of an adoption survey and brief counseling from our adoption staff. All animals go home fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and micro-chipped. • Humane Education - Our humane education program teaches children and adults about people and pets. Presentations and educational support materials include services of HSBC, responsible pet ownership, pet needs, safety for and around animals, and pet overpopulations. • Special Events - HSBC has a very solid reputation in the Bay County community and attends many local events at which we showcase animals available for adoption, hand out educational materials, and promote our programs. • Fundraisers - Because HSBC receives no government funding, we rely on donations from members of the community to support our programs. Our two largest fundraisers are our annual “Barkin’ on The Bay” event on Bay Point Marina and our annual “Calendar Friends” in which the public votes on on the cutest animals pictures (submitted online or at our events) to include in our calendar.

our move & our goal to get back to bay ave. The Humane Society of Bay County has relocated its current shelter and thrift store operations at 1048 West 23rd Street, Panama City to two separate locations. We were able to lease both locations for nearly the same amount we paid for rent on 23rd Street. After two years of housing the animals for adoption within our retail store, the right place, the right price and the right time has arrived. This is a short term "puppy step" while we continue to work towards securing the funding to repair the main shelter on Bay Avenue, which is environmentally unsafe, both to humans and animals. The location for the animals is the former Cedar Grove Animal Hospital at 2620 E. 15th Street across the road from Coin and Bullion Reserve. The vet facility is better suited to accommodate the needs of the animals and it will allow the HSBC to take in approximately 70 animals, double the capacity at the present location on 23rd Street. The 15th Street location has full size dog runs and a fenced in outdoor area. The cattery that was built over a year ago for the purpose of giving the cats an exercise and social space will be relocated to the new facility. The clinic also has a surgery room and it is one of the future goals of the HSBC, to utilize the surgery room for low cost spay/neuter events. The Thrift and Gift store will be relocated to 1408 Harrison Avenue, almost across the road from Dan-D Donuts just past the Tally Ho Drive-In Diner if turning onto Harrison from 15th Street. The retail space will more than double and will provide plenty of room for the much needed furniture donations. The new Thrift and Gift location will be significantly easier to access and also offers alternate routing to traffic lights. Volunteers are always needed. If interested, please go to the website www.AdoptMe. org and complete the online volunteer form or call 769-7333 if unable to go online.
