Focus on Community
Prep School Leadership The Prep School Council took part in a United Learning Leadership Challenge to raise awareness of a topic of their choice. Having selected homelessness, they partnered with local charity Hull Homeless Community Project (HHCP). They met the charity’s CEO Andrew Smith to learn more about the issue in our city. In the Michaelmas Term, the School Council organised a collection of goods to be delivered to help the local homeless community. In January, 19 Year 5 and 6 pupils slept overnight in the school foyer in an attempt to experience homelessness for a very short period of time. Children who took part in the sleepover also raised funds for HHCP 24 The Collegian
and very kindly donated their own sleeping bags after the event. In March, the School Council then went on to present their leadership challenge along with other schools to special guests at a ceremony held in London’s Canary Wharf.
MIND Hull and East Yorkshire Prep parent Mrs Sharp organised a coffee morning raising funds and awareness for MIND Hull and East Riding. Staff and Senior School pupils made a pledge to look after their own mental wellbeing by writing an act of self kindness on the wellbeing wall.
