Health Tip

JERRY JENSEN Pharm. D.

Think F.A.S.T. For a stroke victim, every minute counts. If you think someone is having a stroke, do a simple test using the acronym F.A.S.T. F is for face - Ask the person to smile to see if one side of their face droops. A stands for arm - See if they are able to raise both arms at the same time or if one drifts downward. S is for speech - Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence; look for difficulty repeating the sentence or slurred speech. T stands for time - If you see any of the above signs, call 911 immediately so the person can be evaluated and get treatment as soon as possible. Quick action can save lives and improve chances for a successful recovery.
