Tips to Prevent Overeating External cues influence how much we eat. Experts say itâ€™s easier to change your environment than to will yourself not to overeat. People eat more when they use bigger plates and bowls, so use smaller ones. Make sure healthy foods and snacks are front and center in your refrigerator and cabinets; we tend to eat the first things we see. Repackage snacks into smaller bags or bowls to control portion sizes; you are likely to eat more if you snack out of the large bag. Try serving dinner from the counter or buffet, because people will eat more when food is on the table. Keep a fruit bowl on your kitchen table for healthy snacking.
