a Closer AMERICAN Diagnosing Look.. YOU...
Our staff of certified X-ray technologists functioning in two modern radiograph rooms provide this valuable diagnostic service. The permanent picture of the x-ray is available in seconds. The x-ray and the EKG tracing provide valuable information to assist in determining treatment of an acute illness, and also serve as an extremely valuable comparative report on annual physicals.
With Extended Hours into the Evenings and Weekends.
UNDERSTANDING THE LIPID PROFILE TEST
February is the time of year for valentines, romance and heartfelt emotions. It’s also an important time to focus on heart health. In addition to Valentine’s Day, we observe AMERICAN HEART MONTH in February. Cardiovascular diseases are our nation’s number-one killer. During AMERICAN HEART MONTH, the American Heart Association strives to raise awareness about heart disease and stroke. You can reduce your risk for heart disease and stroke by adopting a healthier lifestyle that incorporates the following measures: Eat a Healthy Diet Eat a variety of foods from all of the basic food groups, and look for foods low in saturated fat and cholesterol. Exercise Regularly Gradually work your way up to at least 30 minutes of physical activity on most days of the week.
A lipid profile is a lab test that measures the amount of certain fats and cholesterol in your blood. High lipid levels can lead to a heart attack or cause your heart disease to worsen. You should have a lipid profile at least once a year. The LDL, or “bad,” cholesterol should be lower than 100 mg/dl, and triglycerides (also “bad”) should be lower than 150 mg/dl. The HDL, or “good,” cholesterol should be greater than 40 mg/dl. If you have diabetes and diagnosed cardiac disease or progressive coronary artery disease, despite having an LDL of lower than 100 mg/dl, your provider may choose an LDL goal of lower than 70mg/dl.
Quit Smoking Cigarette and tobacco smoking increase your risk of heart disease and peripheral vascular disease.
