There is a $10 supply fee, that includes a t-shirt for each class, which are payable to “Crane River Theater” at the first class. Theater is an opportunity to explore, create and have fun. Kids of all ages can relate to the universal appeal of theater. It is for this reason that we bring you a series of classes that explore the art of music, theater and performances. The intention is to have fun through imagination and play. The program will allow kids to challenge themselves while working with others, and turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. All classes are offered through the Crane River Theater Company, and will be taught by theater professionals. The final day of classes will include a performance for families and friends. All classes are generously supported by Platte Valley State Bank and Trust Company. Imagination at Play: Kids will use a variety of methods to create their own version of a well-known story through songs, dance and imagination. Clowning Around: Unleash your inner clown! Rudolph ain’t the only one who can have a red nose! In this playful workshop, kids will learn the basic steps of clowning and physical comedy for a hilarious final performance. All joking aside, this is one class you won’t want to miss. Red clown noses provided. Let’s Make a Musical: Discover the art of creating and performing your own musical. Kids will create songs from popular melodies to tell a theatrical story of their very own. Making a Melodrama: Exaggerated emotions, sensational characters and overdramtic storylines create the wonderful world of Melodrama. Anyone with an interest in acting will want to sign up for this workshop as we will assemble a classic melodrama script complete with hero, heroine, villain, sidekick, damsel in distress and others. Glee!: Take the stage by storm with your favorite musical numbers from the popular show Glee. Back by popular demand, this two-week class will focus on the art of musical theater. Students will perform multiple numbers complete with characters and choreography. Crane River Theater company members will even join in on the fun for a collaborative group number with the kids. The Kearney Park & Recreation Department is coordinating the summer swim lesson program at Harmon and Centennial Swimming Pools. The lessons will still follow the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim format. However, class registration will be done through KPR by phone, mail, or in person at the KPR Office (2005 1st Avenue). Guidelines to know before registering for classes: • You may only register your child for one class at a time. Once the class has concluded, you may register for an additional class. • Please register at least 3 working days before the start of the class. • Class registration cannot be done at the swimming pools. • Closely review the “prerequisites” of each class before registering to determine the level your child should be in.
