14 Faith Formation

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” —John 13:35 The ministry and relationships we enjoy at Holy Trinity are a gift from God and everything we do is a reflection of the love of Christ. Anticipation is growing! We are excited to welcome new children to our Pre-School and we are ready to launch Faith Formation classes for all ages. Music programs, fellowship events, and service opportunities are underway—hoping you will participate and take delight in Loving the Lord and our neighbors in need. We invite you to worship with us every Sunday and enjoy Wednesday Church Night (WCN) Suppers with your church family. The more we participate in God’s ministry together the more we grow in faith and experience the love of Christ. I look forward to seeing you in church at Holy Trinity and watching how God works miracles in your life. Your brother in Christ and partner in ministry,

WORSHIP & music

As we enter the fall season, we continue in the Sundays following Pentecost. The pattern of these Sundays is broken by the festivals of Reformation and All Saints and come to a close on the final Sunday of the Church year—Christ the King Sunday. Perhaps these festivals are less interruption and more a culmination of all the growing we’ve been doing as disciples of Jesus thoughout the long “green” season—the harvest that will sustain us now and in the life to come. 8:30 a.m. Worship in Trinity Chapel Traditional worship 11:00 a.m.* Worship in the Nave and online Traditional worship 5:00 p.m. NewSong in Trinity Chapel Contemporary worship

*Watch livestreamed services at htlchickory.org/streaming-worship. Recordings of the services remain online for several weeks to be viewed at your convenience.

Blessing of the Animals Sunday, October 2 | 5:00 p.m. Outdoor Worship Center Bring dogs, cats, hamsters, goldfish—whatever pet is part of your family! Each animal will receive a blessing, and we’ll remember that God’s love extends to whole of creation.

Reformation Sunday Sunday, October 30 | all three services On Reformation Sunday, we celebrate the historic Reformation and pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to revive the Church that it would be a beacon to shine the Light of Christ in all times and places.

All Saints Sunday Sunday, November 6 | all three services All Saints’ Sunday is a day to commemorate all those who have died in the faith and now rest in the Lord. We remember that all the baptized children of God are part of the entire communion of saints, both the living and the dead. An opportunity to share the names of friends and family who have died will be offered. More information will be available in The Servant.

Meet Our Leaders We’re currently conducting a search for our next Director of Youth & Family Ministry (DYFM), but in the meantime, we’ve got two enthusiastic leaders who will be making sure youth ministry will continue to thrive. Nathan Shackelford (top left) and Jenna Ramsey (bottom left) are both Lenoir-Rhyne University students.

What does ministry look like when we put faith in God to help us envision how we can love and serve and grow together as disciples of Jesus? What does ministry look like when we trust that God will take our offerings of time, talent, and treasure and do more than we could ever do on our own? This October, we’ll take time to consider how we steward the gifts God provides to us. We’ll prayerfully ask God to help us step forward in faith, so that we can use these gifts to share God’s Word with others, offer love and mercy to our neighbors in need, worship together, care for those who are ill or facing a life crisis, and make new connections with people of all ages—to reach out farther and wider than we’ve ever done before!

This year’s Faith Formation theme is based on Ephesians 4:2, “with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.” As we study God’s Word together, we’ll learn how God can help us embody these characteristics in our daily life as disciples of Jesus.
