Defensive Line Coach/Academic Coord.

SHAWN HOWE

Shawn Howe returns to Humboldt County to assume the defensive line coaching responsibilities following two seasons working at the University of Southern California as a graduate assistant. He played football at College of the Redwoods during the 2000 and 2001 seasons, starting at linebacker for the Corsairs. His previous coaching experience includes serving an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Tennessee in 2010. He spent the previous three years (2007-09) as a graduate assistant coach at Memphis, where he worked with the defense the first two years and spent 2009 handling the tight ends. Prior to working at Memphis, Howe was a volunteer assistant at North Carolina State in 2006, helping with the defensive line. He began his coaching career at Rocky Mountain College, his alma mater, serving as the outside linebackers coach in 2004 and 2005. Howe played defensive end and linebacker at College of the Redwoods in 2000 and 2001, earning All-Mid-Empire Conference first team honors in 2000 when he was the team’s Defensive Lineman of the Year. He then transferred to Rocky Mountain College, where he was a two-year (2002-03) starter at defensive end. He graduated from Rocky Mountain College in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and health.
