360fly 360° HD Camera

The 360fly is a single-lens 360-degree (spherical) video camera that captures video for everything around you. Use the Android/iPhone apps to control the camera, download your videos or share online. Water resistant to 1 atm (around 34’).

The camera itself is simple but requires the app and some setup to get started:

Power On/Off (hold down for 3 secs until it vibrates) Charging cradle (with USB cable)

Mobile App - Download the 360fly App by 360fly, Inc. and follow the instructions (Android & iPhone/iPad) to sync the camera to your device. The camera WiFi name is hsulib360 and the password is dml360fly.

GoPro Session 4 Camera

These minimalist cameras are small, light, waterproof (to 33 feet), and can be controlled via the free Apple/Android app.

Canon Vixia HF R700

This tiny video camera is great for capturing high-quality footage for your video project. The camera includes all you need to record basic video (includes built-in mic) but you may want to also borrow a tripod, boom mic or other accessories.

The basic use of this camera is pretty simple, but remember to: ✓ You may also want a tripod- attaches to a standard tripod mount. ✓ Charge the camera using the included power adapter. ✓ Connect an external microphone for better sound- the AT875R Shotgun Mic is a good choice (requires the included iRig interface to convert the analog mic to digital via the 3.5 mm jack).

Press in lock at base of camera & slide in battery pack, then release lock. Open screen to enable image display. Camera functions are on screen.

Get Started

To Save, remove SD card from camera, insert into reader, & plug into USB port. Once connected you can access files and copy footage onto your computer. Edit video using Camtasia, iMovie or visit the link below for more ideas. Share your final project online with YouTube/Vimeo and use a creative commons license to allow others to use or share your work as well. Google I AM CARDBOARD The cardboard viewer allows you to view your 360 photos or Google Cardboard projects. The Library has five (5) viewers available for checkout.

The viewer itself is very simple- you can even make your own or order kits online for $5 and up. ✓

Smartphone - the only requirement for the viewer is that you need an Android phone or iPhone. The viewer can accommodate many sizes, including the Nexus 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

1. Open the orange latch and loosen the center column knob 3. Tilt the column on the hinge, push it back through to the desired point. Close the latch and tighten the knob to lock into place.

This one is simple! All you need is a camera or smartphone to attach to it. ✓ The smartphone attachment fits a variety of phone widths, from 2-3.5 inches. ✓ Includes a standard threaded tripod mount, which works with most cameras, as well as a GoPro mount, which works also with the 360fly. ✓ The clamp mount uses the standard GoPro quick release system (attachments included with GoPro and 360fly cameras). ✓ Use the super strong clamp on its own or with the flexible gooseneck.

This one is simple, really- just plug it into the USB port on your computer or device and it will automatically be detected. If you have any issues, contact us (see below) or enter the audio settings to detect audio input. Troubleshooting will depend on your device, but you can search online for your device name and ‘Blue snowball mic not detected’ to get pointers.

Need to capture high-quality sound for your video project? Looking to record nature sounds for your audio PSA project? The Audio-Technica AT875R shotgun mic will do the trick.

Use the iRig digital interface for recording to a digital device (like a smartphone or laptop). Device or program to record to- smartphone, tablet, laptop, even desktop! You just need software to record to (see back).

Audio-Technica AT875R Instructions Humboldt State University Library

Connect the iRig interface for recording to digital. Otherwise, the XLR cable can be connected to an analog recording device with an XLR input. The windscreen filters help avoid picking up ambient noises from wind - try them both to see which works best for your situation. Attach the mic clip to the boom pole and twist to extend or lock the pole.

Record to your smartphone with various apps- visit the Play store or the App store. Record straight to a computer, laptop, or tablet- any digital device with a 3.5 mm jack. The Tascam DR-05 digital recorder allows you to capture quality audio easily. If you don’t have a smartphone (or any room to add apps or files!) this is a great way to record. Compatible with the AT875R Shotgun mic with the iRig interface.
