goals for this season. “We want to get further in the playoffs, but our main goal is to get to State,” said Cortez. “I think we have a chance.” Their chances are better this year now that Forward Leo Guerra is back on the team after suffering an ACL injury that kept him from playing early in the season last year. “Leo scored a lot of goals for us in the past and is going to be a key player this year,” said Cortez. Two years ago, Guerra was the Most Valuable Player of District 61-4A and even though he isn’t a Captain on the team, the other players definitely look to him as a leader. “The guys look up to him because of his playing abilities,” said Cortez. Senior Omar Garza, who has been the Team Captain for the last two years, possesses excellent defensive skills at the Sweeper position. “Omar is a special player and has gotten a lot of looks from Universities who are very interested in him playing
