Smart Ideas for Year-End Benefits

W

ith the end of the year just around the corner, now is an excellent time for you to review your charitable giving plans. Here are some creative options to consider for your year-end planning that can help support the Humane Society of Broward County and also benefit you. CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS - A simple gift of cash or an unneeded asset can further the HSBC’s mission and provide you with valuable tax savings.

APPRECIATED SECURITIES – If you have appreciated stocks, bonds or mutual fund shares, you may want to gift them because you receive greater tax benefits when you donate appreciated securities. You get an income tax deduction and you avoid capital gains. Consult with your personal attorney or estate planner for the estate plan that works best for you and that will benefit the animals.

CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITY - Double your benefits while making a gift and receiving cash back. A gift annuity gives you income tax advantages this year while providing you with dependable payments for life at higher rates than you can obtain from traditional investments. IRA CHARITABLE ROLLOVER - On December 18, 2015 legislation was signed into law that indefinitely extended the IRA Charitable Rollover and made it retroactive to January 1, 2015, with no expiration date. The IRA Charitable Rollover allows anyone age 70½ years or older to make an outright charitable gift of up to $100,000 directly from their IRA to a qualified charity without paying income tax on the distribution.

Estate planning helps to support homeless animals for many years into the future.

A Lasting Impression Do you want to leave a lasting legacy for the animals? You can do just that, and give the gift that will keep on giving -- providing food, shelter and a second chance to a great many needy animals. Those of us who love animals our whole lives often want to be able to make a difference for as many animals as we can. The best way to carry out that wish is to support all of the animals at the Humane Society of Broward County through a bequest. By making a bequest to the Humane Society of Broward County in your will, you can ensure that your love for animals will continue on…and that we’ll be able to keep providing food, shelter, medical attention and compassion to the tens of thousands of animals who depend on us. You will also be recognized as a member of our Legacy Club.
