Freny is an MBA graduate from St. Mary’s University with a concentration in Management Consulting. She will be working with Hunter Centre faculty to research and develop multimedia cases. CFREB Applications for Case Studies Conjoint Faculties Research The Haskayne School of Business has received ethics approval for a generic case study application. From now on, Ethics Board (CFREB) for case studies, faculty members need only submit a modification to this generic approval, and processing of the ethics approval should occur much faster. Harrie Vredenburg’s renewal for 2014-2019 as the Suncor Energy Chair in Competitive Strategy and Sustainable Development was recently approved.

On April 22, 2014, Allan Ingelson was the panel moderator for a session called “Enhancing Revenue Transparency in the Oil and Gas Sectors” held at Deloitte in downtown Calgary. The session was sponsored by Engineers Without Borders Canada, Transparency International and The Revenue Watch Institute. There were 50 members from the downtown business community in attendance along with a representative from CAPP, the Federal Government (NRC) and the First Nations who spoke.

Robert Malach and Sandra Malach presented their coauthored paper at the Pacific Northwest Academy of Legal Studies in Business (ALSB) Regional Conference: “Risk vs Reward: Regulation and Access to Crowd Funding”. The paper describes how the SEC in the U.S. has responded to feedback on how to balance investor protection (liability issues) and access to capital (red tape, financial limits and disclosure costs) in dealing with the large numbers of small capital investors that can be accessed through online funding portals.
