Super Pig Stops Bank Robbery Friday afternoon, a bank robbery occurred on West Elm Street. 3 criminals who the police would not like to give out any names were robbing a bank. When they entered the bank they each held up a gun and demanded as much money they could put in their bags. A panicked customer in the bank called the authorities. Controversy: The First National Vault Robbery

On september 13th, 1981 at the First National Bank of Barrington, a customer walked down the stairs to withdraw money from the vault. It was a shocking discovery when the vault attendant attempted to unlock the the deposit box when the lock simply fell back into the now empty container. Police were immediately called and became astonished. This was claimed to be the first successful vaultrobbery in a federal bank in the whole US.

The Suspect William Smarto was convicted and sentenced to 55 years in prison. Mr. Smarto, was, ironically, very smart and intelligent. He was able to keep a cool head throughout the robbery. William's day job was a hairdresser. "Hair dresser by day and bank burglar on the weekends"–Alan Grossman, assistant US attorney. Smarto didn't work alone, his brother had helped him scope out the place, but wasn't present when the robbery occurred. He also wasn't able to stand trial due to health reasons.

As one would distract the vault guard, the other would hide tools in the false ceiling of the vault. On 4–11–81 the guard was on vacation, leaving the vault unattended. Smarto possibly got through the glass door on the vault with a credit card. Once in the vault William hid behind the deposit boxes in a 24–inch open area in the corner. He hid there until 1 p.m, that's when the vault's heavy metal door closed, and it wouldn't open until Monday morning at 7:30. In the middle of the night the alarm went off twice. It has the power to affect one's persona drastically; it may make the meekest individual strong and the most ardent person frail. Schutzman states "the teller, a young woman of about twenty five, felt the lights of her streets go on for the first time" (Schutzman 1), evidently describing the emotional impact the robber had on the teller. Figuratively, this statement is an implicit comparison between the lights that had lined her streets and the teller's discovery of love. This statement also foreshadows the creation of a turbulent relationship between the two counterparts, since it depicts a "love at first sight" moment that conclusively suggests that the folly lovers will base their romance on short–term desires rather than true love. In the eleventh paragraph, the robber is seen stating "Ah money...you are just like love" (Schutzman 1) , evidently proving his lustful adoration towards materialistic facets. I found an article that conducted a study to find why bank robberies have increased since 1994. The focus of the study was focused to the Chicago Police Department and the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) where the use of statistics of bank robbers, interviewing bank robbers, and determining what kind of security measures and security equipment was been used, the gathering of the information was used to gain insight into bank robbery (Carrol & Loch, (1997).

The study first focused on basic information of bank robberies, by using records that the FBI kept when investing bank robbery scenes. This information was very helpful in determining the trends of bank robbers; the investigators gave suggestions to institutions on how to create better security measures. The investigator took all the FBI reports and placed them into a database for future reference (Carrol & Loch, (1997).

The investigator wanted to learn what motivated bank robbers so they interviewed offenders either in federal or local correctional institutes. They have currently interviewed five offenders, varying from robbers who passed notes to armed single robbers to a group or gang robberies. O. Henry's short story, "A Retrieved Reformation," shows a man's journey through rehabilitation. In the story, Jimmy Valentine is in jail for robbery. It is important to also keep in mind that The Texas Penal Code states that the offender can also be required to pay a fine not to exceed ten thousand dollars. Up to twenty years in TDCJ and a fine of up to ten thousand dollars should be a deterrence for those who plan on committing robbery; unfortunately, this is not always the case. In criminal law, an attempted robbery occurs when there is an undertaking to commit an act which includes preparation but does not result in the successful completion of the act (Falk, 2010). In the case of Frank, there are substantial efforts that he puts in place in abed to rob the bank. Frank does not commit the offense of bank robbery but that of attempted bank robbery. After looking over the First city bank, he goes to his storage and removes his old pistol and even bought shells for it. He then prepares a note and goes into the bank with a mask. It is only after the siren goes off that he runs off. This clearly shows that frank was prepared to carry out the act and went to all lengths to prepare to commit the offense. It would not be a valid defense if the cashier had no money because while committing the offense frank was unaware of this fact. He was armed and willing to commit the crime.

A man faced with his fatality will quiver and beg for mercy. Anders, from "Bullet in the Brain", is unique in that he faces death with laughter and sarcasm. The short story by Tobias Wolff portrays a man named Anders being shot during a bank robbery after ignoring the threats of the robbers (In Text Cite). Through descriptions of the protagonist and his speech with other characters, Anders shows signs of schizophrenia. Before the shooting, the narrator describes Anders and his interactions with other people at the bank. In the first paragraph, Anders looks at the two women in front of him with a "murderous temper" (In Text Cite) and is described as criticizing books with "savagery" (In Text Cite). Anders is also angry with the girl in front of him when she whines about the teller closing their window, telling her she is overdramatic. The actors interact with the audience. They dance with them, take photos with them, and even give them "haircuts". The audience seated in the round allowing us to see the characters in a multi–dimensional way. Though I have a seat with a restricted view, I mostly saw everything. With the theatre being in the round, I felt that it added to the multi–dimensional aspect because you get to see the character in many different angles as opposed to a typical proscenium view. During this ensemble piece, where all expect for three of the actors played multiple characters throughout the play, I had a hard time separating the characters and remembering the pervious encounter they had when we are re–introduced to them. It always took me a couple of seconds to figure if this was a new character or an previously introduced character. The costume design did help distinguish each character even when the actor fall short. Because all the action happens on the same day, all the recurring characters wear the same costume throughout the play and each new character was dressed is a new costume as well. Social Disorganization Theory The focus of this theory is on the association between social control, the neighborhood structure, and crime (Kubrin & Weitzer, 2003). Social disorganization is the incapability of the community to solve significant problems and achieve common goals. The theory posits that residential mobility, poverty, ethnic heterogeneity, and weak social networks decrease the ability of the neighborhood to manage the behavior of people and hence the likelihood of crime is increased (Kubrin & Weitzer, 2003). No one knows who did it. 3 days later Officer Howard was pulling over a car for running a red light, when Howard stepped out of the police car the man took off! My story started about a week ago. I was heading to bed early, because I was tired from a long day with plans to wake up a few hours before class to review for a test. As I closed my books for the evening and headed to bed around midnight, little did I know something was going on outside.

For some strange reason I don't remember running to the garage, all I remember was that I entered the garage and peered into the open window of my car and my heart dropped. Everything was gone along with half of my dash destroyed in the process. I was furious. I felt like hitting something. My target turned out to be my poor car. I hit my car as hard as I could, like it had done something wrong. If you look close enough you can still see the dent in my trunk lid where I hit it so hard. I then decided to sit inside my car and truly survey the damage. That did not help. Then realizing that all my CD's were also missing, I proceeded to rip my visor from the roof of my car. My mom came in about then saving my visor and helped calm me down. My mom said later, "You were pretty mad Joe, I have never seen you that mad before."
