“EVERYONE’S WELCOME TO JOIN THE MOVEMENT.”

THE MOVEMENT... Dear Fellow Texan,

Please understand that we are embroiled in a fight for the heart and soul of Harris County, Texas. Crime, Corruption, and Cronyism is running rampant right now. So, we must band together and commit ourselves to “PUTTING PEOPLE OVER POLITICS” on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, in the upcoming Midterm Election.

POWER SHOT...

Investigative Reporter, Aubrey R. Taylor, and thirty-time Emmy Award Winning Investigative Reporter Wayne Dolcefino at the Tuesday, August 22, 2022, “Protest Against Corrupt Judges” in Harris County, Texas.

In case you haven’t heard, the GOP “GREATER OPPORTUNITY PARTY” has put together the most diverse field of duly-qualified judicial nominees ever assembled by the Harris County Republican Party, under the direction of Cindy Siegel, the current HCRP Chairman. And on the Democratic side, there’s a historic field of African American “JUDICIAL INCUMBENTS” seeking reelection in this pivotal battle for territory.

So, as we endeavor to elect the “BEST QUALIFIED JUDGES” who value our vote, prayers, and support, we must place substance, qualifications, judicial temperament, and job readiness above “SYMBOLISM” and “EMOTIONAL TIES” to people who do not value, respect, or appreciate our support. Respectfully,

It means that I have the personal freedom to make decisions on how I am going to live my life. They mean that I and my daughters have the opportunity to make our lives into whatever we want with hard work. However, along with freedom and liberty goes personal responsibility. Everyone’s Welcome to Join the Movement...

T

Today’s Republican Party was founded in 1854 by a group of Mid-Western abolitionists opposed to the Kansas-Nebraska Bill, which allowed a choice of slavery in the new territories of Kansas and Nebraska. Texas, which had become a state in 1845, was right in the middle of the heated slavery controversy. Most state leaders were Democrats prior to the Civil War, and thus supported the pro-slavery Confederacy. But President Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican president, gained the support of Texas Republicans and several prominent state leaders, like Sam Houston, Texas’ first Governor. However, most of those who decided to support Lincoln’s decision to defend the Union were forced from office, and Democrats succeeded in allying Texas with the Confederacy. The effects of the Civil War and its aftermath would be felt for more than a century throughout the South, and especially in Texas. For its first two generations, Texas had known only honor, victory and valor. Though Texans never lost a battle at home during the Civil War, the Union army under orders from a Republican President marched in and occupied the Lone Star State after the Confederacy surrendered. For the first time, Texas would not be victorious. The next four generations of Texans would not forgive the Republican Party.

Early Support for the GOP

African Americans were one group of Texans that would consistently support the Republican Party in Texas in those early years. In fact, throughout Reconstruction, African Americans comprised about 90% of GOP membership, and 44 African Americans served in the Texas legislature as Republicans.

It was through the hard work of a number of dedicated African American men and women that the earliest foundations of the Republican Party of Texas were laid. The first-ever state Republican convention that met in Houston on July 4, 1867 was predominantly African American in composition, with about 150 African American Texans attending, and 20 Anglos. The second State GOP Chairman, Norris Wright Cuney, an African-American from Galveston who led the Republican Party from 1883 to 1897, is said by State historians to have held “the most important political position given to a black man of the South in the nineteenth century.”

THE REAL DEAL.

I looked to my grandfathers for mentorship while growing up. From an early age, I was inspired by their stories of service and leadership in the defense of our freedom. My maternal grandfather was the first in his family to graduate high school and through his career of service in the U.S. Navy, also became the first in his family to graduate college. My paternal grandfather was forced to flee Spain

as a political refugee. He ultimately gained his U.S. citizenship through service in the U.S. Army. Following in my family’s tradition, I decided to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point following the 9/11 Attacks. Upon graduation, I served in the Army bomb squad. Through my experience leading soldiers in combat, I demonstrated the skills necessary to lead during times of crisis and that has prepared me to lead the county

through the crisis we currently face. The protection of our freedoms has been a theme throughout my life, one that my entire family has shared. They’re too important to sit idly by hoping that someone else will protect them and that’s especially true in Harris County, where our way of life has been under attack. I’m running for Harris County Judge to restore our way of life.

“LET’S FREELY VOTE FOR JUDGE JONES.”

A

As a U.S. Army decorated combat veteran and current member of the Army Reserves, Judge Jones has truly dedicated his life to public service. Judge Jones is running for re-election to continue demonstrate that justice at its best arises from unbought, unbossed, bold citizens who respect the rule of law as it is written. In criminal cases, too often the people who make life decisions for so many of Harris County's citizens do not share similar life experiences of those they punish daily. Living and working throughout the world from childhood onward, Judge Jones learned about and engaged in various cultures and ideologies. These are the same things that make Harris County great. After witnessing first-hand how too many judges were closed-minded and prejudiced towards some defendants and attorneys, but afforded others with whom they were socially or financially in line with better opportunities and common courtesies, as well as "the benefit of the doubt," Judge Jones ran for office and won in November of 2018; making him the first minority to preside over the

180th Criminal District Court since its inception. Financial status, connections, race, clothing and other variables should not come into play in regards to the administration of justice. Judge Jones was raised by his dad, a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and his mother, who passed away on Valentine's Day a few weeks after his return from his second tour in Iraq. Judge Jones has three siblings. Two of which are disabled veterans. While in elementary school, Judge Jones visited Auschwitz, Anne Frank's house, and other key historical examples of social injustice and abuse of power. These experiences have helped mold him into the person he is today. After graduating from the storied Tuskegee University, Judge Jones commissioned as an Army Field Artillery Officer, where he led soldiers from all walks of life and held the highest standards as military combat arms officer. Judge Jones, his wife and three children reside in Houston, where his children attend public school.
