The opening of the 336-room, five-star The Murray (pictured) reawakens a landmark building that has stood in Hong Kong's Central since 1969, and marks the third (and flagship) launch from Niccola Hotels. Things are about to heat up in Ibiza. This month (4 May) sees Hotel Nobu Ibiza Bay re-open on the shores of Talamanca Bay, the shortest of walks from the boutiques, restaurants and clubs of Marina Botafoch. Also set to re-open this month in the wilds of Zimbabwe is the revamped Singita Pamushana Lodge.

As part of its design transformation, two new two-bedroom pool suites have been created, both overlooking the hippo-filled Malilangwe Dam. Back on the beach, Mykonos welcomes the arrival of the Mykonian Avaton (11 May) to the craggy shoreline of southern Mykonos. The gastronomic offering is worthy of note here – the local produce used in the restaurant is grown exclusively for the hotel, while a fisherman catches seafood in the surrounding waters solely for his family

and the hotel’s chef. The opening of the Nana Princess (4 May) brings five-star style to the north end of Crete, and with it a stunning Grand Royal Villa, replete with vintage arcade machines and '50s juke box. Design also plays a prominent role at the Form Hotel, which opens this month as the latest addition to Dubai's Culture Village. The cool, all-white façade gives way to bespoke furniture and art inside.
