Have there ever been two things more perfectly matched than travel and romance? I, for one, am not quite sure and neither is Danish novelist Peter Høeg, who said, “Travel tends to magnify all human emotions.” On that note, perhaps it’s no wonder that falling in love comes easy when you’re drinking in sweeping canyon vistas atop a mountain in Oman or snuggling under blankets gazing at piercing strikes of Northern Lights. This issue, World Traveller got to do both. With February being Valentine’s month, we’ve also been busy hunting down some truly epic destinations, places that will simply make you want to fall in love. Like love, travel gets under your skin and so does South Africa’s most-visited city. Dramatic, ever-changing landscapes and an ambience of effortless edge infused with pulsating nightlife and a culture overload, Cape Town is a tonic for romance – we let the locals divulge the city’s secrets.
