HOTEP,

The Nat Turner saga based on a true story provides a great insight to the sentiments and feelings of today’s society

O

ur society is currently on the edge of a revolutionary shift of the minds and hearts. Nat Turner’s life represented the principles of cause and effect, along with duality. As the story goes, Nat Turner was ordained with the spiritual scar from birth and in African tradition he would become the prophet during his era to do great things for his people. Turner in his youth was taught to read the bible; however, he was only taught to read certain scriptures that only uplifted the Europeans. Turner was then used as a preacher by the slave owners to corral other

slaves on other plantations in return for money. As Turner would preach, he would see the horrible conditions and degradable things being done to his people. Nat Turner began to read the bible in its entirety and was given lashes as a result of the rebellious talk. This shift in consciousness changes Nat Turner’s behavior to lead the up rise of his people. In today’s society, we see the same principles unfolding on a daily basis. As we have been suppressed for so many years with misinformation and trickery by the European nations. However; just like Nat’s eyes were opened by reading all of

the scriptures from the good book, he realized that one day the “first shall be last and the last shall be first.” So the same goes for our people for the “RE-BIRTH” of our nation. Malcolm X once said, “Nationalism is the wave of the future”. Therefore, it is critical and vital that we have a new revelation and open our third eye to reemerge as a nation with principles, character and most of all love. In the words of Marcus Garvey, “Up, You Mighty Race!”. Literal Substance Editorial Team

The prosperity of life is created by our own deeds, thoughts and actions. The motion or action will give appropriate result, according to the divine justice. As a result, we see this very situation happening now in our time.

SUBSTANCE

CAUSE AND EFFECT

Taking a deeper look at the control we have over our existence by operating from conscious mind. ACCORDING TO THE ETHERS

Nothing happens by chance or outside the Universal Laws. Every action has a reaction or consequence “We reap what we sow”. The most important lesson involving human conduct and interaction is seen in the Cosmic Law of Cause and Effect. “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”. Every human thought, word and deed is a Cause that sets off a wave of energy throughout the universe which in turn creates the

4

effect whether desirable or undesirable. The law states the effect must to physical manifestation. This is why good thoughts, words, emotions, and deeds are essential for a better world for the all create good effects.

ACCORDING TO THE NATURE OF YOUR ACTIONS,

The Divine omniscient consciousness will assign corresponding effects. In order to benefit yourself and society as a whole, mankind should use their

free will of choice and perform good deeds with the awareness that what they think, act and speak about will affect the entire universe.

The principles of love and justice needs to be within balance as we travel into a higher dimension. With that being said the negativity being spread has to be met with positive vibes to bring nature into balance. We salute all those who have taken a stance to step up and promote positivity within this shift in humanity. Let us all make a stand to increase this shift within the universe. Amen Ra

O

ne thing that is always constant is change. It’s been said that nothing remains the same forever. As I sit and watch the video for an old hit song, Like a Pimp--there is a hefty young man with a raspy voice jumping all over the screen, wearing a Mississippi jersey that had the same look as all the other rappers but had a message that many people didn’t pay attention to. He addressed issues that others in the same position were too afraid to speak on. The same topics the entertainment industry paid him not to speak on. David Banner, well known music artist and now activist has switched it up. He not only

has a new look, but he also has a new mission and a new demeanor. David Banner has undergone a complete transformation. For a while, we didn’t hear much from him and it was during this period that he went on a fast, separating himself so that he could grow into the David Banner we see and love today. Not to shortchange him of his intelligence or even his role in liberating the black community—but he said himself in an interview with Renada Romain TV that he’s always been “conscious”. The only difference is now he’s living up to the words that he allows to come from his mouth. The law of attraction would agree, that’s why he has been able to travel all over the world—this time encouraging black people to “wake up along with being able to impact so

8

many people with his knowledge.

A NEW BANNER

David Banner, a self educated brother through continued studying (which he encourages) reminds us of his educational background coming from Southern University.

While there, he served as the SGA President. He continues to visit various institutions of higher learning identifying with his younger audience with a mission to educate as well as to evoke change and progression.

{ BLACK BUSINESS VENDOR VIDEO Check out the vendors who were in attendance. It was a truly uplifting experience. Watch Video

/

In an interview, he referenced the Like a Pimp video letting viewers and listeners know that he had been trying to uplift black people for well over ten years with his music. He pointed out some not-so-hidden gems that many wouldn’t have noticed without having prior knowledge to the history of black people in America or even simpler—world history.

BY LAW: THE 13TH AMENDMENT EQUATES PRISONS TO SLAVE CAMPS

W FACTS!

The 13th Amendment of the Constitution has a clause which states that slavery is illegal, except for criminals. This clause raises a concern in today’s criminal justice system that prisons have become nothing more than modern day slave quarters.

THE GOD BOX

After not receiving music from David Banner for quite some time due to his focus on the film industry, he decided to come back with a new album— The God Box. When asked, what does is The God Box, he said, “The God Box is just like The Secret. Your life becomes a whole lot easier once you find out what The God Box is.” This pan Africanist uses tracks from the album such as Black Fist to create thoughts within the minds of all people.

One of the things that Banner would like for black kings and queens to do is to love themselves first and then have love among one-another. He speaks heavily on mutual support within the black community and the idea of circulating the black dollar. “If I had you (black people), I wouldn’t need them.”, he says as it relates to the documented 1 trillion dollars spent among blacks in America.

In addition to all of David Banners major moves, the businessman takes parts of his income and puts it into the black communities. He says, “It’s time to stop talking and start being an example.” And we couldn’t agree more. Literal Substance has created a group economic fund in order to create, invest and leave a legacy for generations to come.

BELOW This symbol indicates the 12 hours of night and 12 hours of day light experiences during the fall equinox

GLOBAL GLANCE

THE FALL EQUINOX

The days are shorter, nights are colder. What does it all mean in the context of changes in our planet? WHAT IS THE SPRING EQUINOX?

The September (“Latin” Septiembre “means the number seven”) equinox occurs the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator the imaginary line in the sky above the Earth’s Equator from north to south. This happens on or around September 21st of every year.

THE TILT

The Earth’s axis is always tilted at an angle of about

23.4° in relation to the ecliptic, the imaginary plane created by the Earth’s

{

path around the Sun. On any other day of the year, either the southern hemisphere or the Northern Hemisphere tilts a bit towards the Sun. But on the two equinoxes, the tilt of the Earth’s axis is perpendicular to the Sun’s rays, like the illustration shows.

WHY “EQUINOX”?

On the equinox, night and day are nearly exactly the same length 12 hours all over the world. This is the reason it’s called an “equinox”, derived from Latin, meaning “equal night”. However, even if this is widely accepted, it isn’t entirely true. In reality equinoxes don’t have exactly 12 hours of daylight.

{ THE FALL EQUINOX EXPLAINED Watch a short video that explains the fall equinox in more detail.

CULTURE

SYMBOLOGY IN HIP-HOP L We experience the effects of symbolism in everything from politics, monuments, buildings, logos etc., even to our beloved hip-hop HIP-HOP VIBRATIONS AT AN ALL TIME LOW

The signs and symbols being used today are damaging the vibrations and corrupting the natures of our people. The “Soul” in Hip-Hop has been manufactured and turned into a water down vibe speaking only to the lower nature in the community.

DANCING A NEW DANCE

The African drum has been drowned out by the sounds of sex, violence, defiance against natural law and mutilation of the minds through repetitive sounds with no real creativity within the baseline and lyrics.

THE TRUE ESSENCE OF THE CULTURE

Hip-Hop was about a imagery, creativity, showmanship and much more. Remember those

old tracks from hip-hop that gave a imagery or gave you the canvas to paint your own picture in your mind.
