Hostos Community College will prepare you to pass the Enrolled Agent Examination. An Enrolled Agent is an authorized tax practitioner who has experience in the field of taxation and who is empowered by the U.S. Department of Treasury to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service for audits, collections, and appeals. They prepare tax returns for individuals, businesses and essentially any entity required to file a tax return. As an Enrolled Agent you may also represent the entity that entrusted you in preparing the return to the IRS if audited. The test is divided into three parts that encompasses all parts of the federal tax code. The parts are as as follows: 1) Individuals, 2) Businesses and 3) Representation, Practices and Procedures Candidates must pass a background check by the IRS in order to finalize their status as an Enrolled Agent. New York Tax Course

An overview of the QuickBooks accounting practices for a small business, including invoicing estimates, purchase orders, time cards, accounting, vendors, inventory and customer data base.

Introduction to the current Income Tax Code and the Internal Revenue Service’s role in taxation. Effect of both the Federal and New York Income Tax on individuals and their tax liability will be explained and discussed.
