This year’s Horsham District Food and Drink Guide and Festival, contained within, are brought to you by Horsham District Council and Horsham District Foodies. Businesses from our celebrated food and drink sector are showcased here as part of a brilliant district wide foodie family.

We are all Horsham District Foodies and have a part to play in producing, utilising and enjoying the fantastic fayre provided by this wonderful rural neighbourhood we live in. Not only that, the Horsham District is a fabulous place to visit and stay and Horsham District Council is promoting the District to tourists using the branding you see above and throughout this Guide.

Established in 1275 when Trenchmore was built! Families have been living in our house and farming the same fields for a long time. We planted our traditional cider orchard in 2012 and started building up our beef herd of Sussex cows which we cross with our Red Wagyu bulls. Our grass loving mowing and feeding cattle are helping rebuild the Wealden clay soils along with tonnes of FYM and compost which we add each year to build the carbon content, as well as feed our Heritage Wheat which is small batch stonemilled and sold locally as flour and whole as wheat berries.

Storrington has had a thriving market for more than 60 years. Started as a WI Market after the war when goods were scarce, it has gone through several changes since, including being part of the Country Markets organisation.

Storrington Community Market is now an independent co-operative, run by volunteers, for the benefit of producers and community. It gives an outlet to producers who have a small excess but not enough to warrant a separate stall at a farmers market. Most of our goods are homemade or homegrown and controlled to a high standard with all cooks requiring a hygiene certificate.

A SDNP Ranger will head up a walk to guide you through some of this beautiful area, where so many of our local farmers live and work, producing food for all of us. It will take approximately 1.5/2 hours (3/4 miles) stopping at interesting points along the way for a breather, involving at least one big “up” and “down”. Bring a bottle of water and please wear sensible shoes. All attendees will receive a special offer voucher for use at The Cobblestone Tea House on return from the Walk.

A walk (or ramble) through half a millennium of Steyning’s liquid history with plenty of stops. See where breweries, malt houses, inns and public houses were situated in the past and whether we can find any traces of them today. The Chequer Inn, The Norfolk Arms, The Star and The White Horse are fortunately still with us. Here is your chance to see and hear some of their history. To revive you after the walk has finished, all attendees will receive a White Horse voucher entitling them to purchase tea or coffee and a piece of cake for the special price of £5 (usually £7).
