Furniture Designs

Light Fixture

We were assigned to design a light fixture using at least one of the principles of folding, stacking, interlocking.

Corrugated Cardboard Night Lamp My light fixture is inspired by The Disc Pendant Light. It plays on light and shadow to invigorate a once lifeless material.

Made from corrugated cardboard, this statement design creates striking refractions around the room as the light shines through. Not only looks good, it creates instant atmosphere with one flick of the switch by peppering the room with light and moody shadows.

Model Making

Flying Machine

A model made up of dismantled hardware parts, inspired from the moving castle in “Howl’s moving castle” animation.

Design Concept:

Front

This project is an Eco SoHo (Small Office Home Office) for two interior designers. Cafe and library do not have suďŹƒcient space, and some designers might not like another designer to go to their home to work. Therefore, this provide a workspace to work together and make them feel like home too Front

The house of Light and Shadow

Device – How does it work

The clock is hungry, the time ate the light, leaving complete darkness .

We were assigned to follow the path of a vlogger travel, and use the site to form up a sentence to create a device which allow us to see the quality of the space there.

-

I am representing as the time while the device represents the clock. As I walk one step, I will close one flap. There are 12 flaps in total, representing 12 hours.

.

Site: Stamford Arts Centre 155 Waterloo St, Singapore 187962 Sentence: The clock is hungry, the time ate the light, leaving complete darkness.

-

After walking 24 steps, all the flaps will be closed, and leaving complete darkness

Studio Project

The house of Light and Shadow

We used the sentence to create a story, and put our device into the new space that we have created from the story. In the future, we had to move to the nearest star system – The horizontal system. However, instead of round sphere planets orbiting around the Sun, the planets in horizontal system were all flat and fixed at a position. Therefore, there was no darkness and thus we did not get to experience night time. Eternal day was creeping across the planet, but our brains and bodies could not cope in a world without darkness. In order for the world to have day and night, human started to build a shelters up above the sky. The shelter works according to the time. There are 12 flaps on each side. Each flaps will either close or open after 1 hour. At 12am, the flaps will be closed, leaving complete
