ICAN HAREM Ikshan Syahirul Alim, a.k.a ÏIcan HaremÎ, is a 23-year-old artist from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. While still studying full-time at the Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) in Yogyakarta, Ican is very active in his art, specializing in street art, digital and video art. He also has a side project with Ahmad Oka and Dito Vietnam called Cangkang Serigala, in which he works on collaborative art and performs Black Metal Karaoke. Ican is the back bone of this trio and uses the name to blog his own personal works and sometimes those of the two other members. Locally, Ican is often asked to take part in exhibitions and to design gig posters, band t-shirts and other merchandise. Nevertheless, his favourite activity is taking part in group street murals with other street artists, drawing comics which depict the ever changing dynamics visible in Indonesian youth culture, and making video art and digital installations. Unlike many other artists, Ican is in his element when working in groups with others (local or international artists). He likes taking the lead role in brainstorming sessions and organising collaborations so as to show a clear cross section of the youth culture that is of paramount importance to him. Ican’s latest project is designing and depicting an ethnography of local Indonesian skate culture, ghosts and street wear, through pen drawings. While Indonesia is rapidly modernizing, there is still a strong connection with the mystical beliefs and heritage. www.cangkangserigala.blogspot.com

yuko rabbit I am Yuko Rabbit, a painter. I’m going to start as a Comic Artist and Illustrator from this spring. As for painting, I am self-taught. I do not have degrees of Art, but in the internet age, I believe it is not a big deal. All I should do is do what I love to do and go forward. Though almost all of my paintings are done on computers, I was a thoroughly traditional media artist before I bought a Wacom tablet. I used various medium; water colors, colored pencil, pen & ink. The time that I decided to switch my principal medium is, I began to think I wanted to draw breathtaking digital artwork as the skilled artists on online art community sites. Since then, I got into digital painting and have taught myself how to paint since 2007. I’ve got inspired not only from painting, but music, typography, traveling, design, books, movies, conversations, stage art, underground culture, performances and my emotions. I always look for hints to make my work better. Other artists sometimes ask me who affected you most, but it is too difficult to list them because I was affected by hundreds of artists, and I can hardly judge who is the MOST influential. I started to exhibit my artworks from 2010. I joined the art events in Japan with Design Festa in Tokyo, and Creators Market in Nagoya. I showed some gicl?e prints of my work and sold a self- published art book. I like to think over about things on the borderlines. I like abstract subject, philosophical matter, androgyne, sexual minorities, children, and other things on blurred borderlines. Because we are not able to define them by anything. I prefer leaving things as are than making all things straight. I think art can depict blurred borderlines. http://yukorabb.it

andrea colombu Andrea Colombu was born in Cagliari where he is currently living and working. His artistic career started in the 90’s and his first production was strongly influenced by Italian gesture painting. In the middle 90’s he moved to Perugia, where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts Peter Vannuci. During these years his art activity changes into a more contemporary and minimalist style, where material becomes his art key element. In 2000 he stops using material, to deal with new techniques and composition processes, such as photography and graphic design.

Isabelle was born and raised in then a small (since grown) town called Saint-Eustache, north of Montreal, Quebec, but currently lives in the Laurentians, Canada. She’s been drawing since she can remember. Talking about her childhood memories, she remembers sitting outside on a nice summer day, drawing and sketching in the shade, while her sisters and friends played in the pool. She’s always been in love with the world of comics and cartoons, whether European, American, Japanese or -yes indeed- Canadian! They caught her attention early on, and have been a

great inspiration, helping her in the evolution of her drawing. While at school, art was (unsurprisingly) her main interest, so after high school she went on to studying visual art and graphic design at University. After a few years as a graphic designer, she went back to school to learn about fashion designing. She worked in the fashion industry for a few years, mostly as a graphic artist, creating prints, artworks and patterns of many sorts. Whilst finding herself fond of it, she always wanted to do more. Then came along an oppor-

tunity to push her career as a full time freelance illustrator and she’s been stuck at that ever since... and loving it! Some have classified Isabelle’s work as innocent and cartoonish - she likes to add into the description humorous and imaginative, with a spark of fantasy. http://isabelleangell.com/

stefania beati Hardware: HTC sensation (android phone) Software: Sketch n Draw free app for android (image 6,8,9.jpg) My name is Stefania, a creative Italian expat, living in Amsterdam since 2007. From my valley into the Alps, I moved to Milan to study Arts, Culture, and Communication Management. During the last period of my studying-working-surviving Italian routine, I enrolled in an intense evening course in Drawing and Illustration Techniques (IED). After all, I’ve been drawing/painting since I could remember, I wanted to explore techniques, work with other people as motivated as me, and have a more professional mindset on the matter. And besides all the twist and turns, no matter how far I go from myself, my passion for creating images brings me back to what’s important. I have always been attracted by medias, how they have an impact on style and the whole creative process. I believe some of the ideas I had were coming from the curiosity to discover a certain material, technique, or software. That’s how photography came into my life: the camera gave me the possibility for a different and yet combined approach. Then not long ago, after upgrading from my “old-fashioned” cellphone to a HTC, I bumped into a very neat application, Sketch and Draw. It reminded me of the time when I was in Milan and I used to sit on a tram, trying to put on paper people’s most interesting expressions and characteristics without being noticed by them. And here again, some raw ideas, tiny sketches created within the timeframe of a tram ride. http://stefaniabeati.daportfolio.com/
