* General Education Requirements for the AS degree are listed under DEGREES AND CERTIFICATES and must be numbered 100 or higher. Note: Students must meet the proficiency standards in communication at the ENG 100 level and computation at the MATH 100 level to qualify for the Early Childhood Education AS degree. Note: Consult your academic and/or program advisor for assistance in planning an education program for specific career goals. The AS degree Meets the Requirements for Teachers, Lead Caregivers, Teacher-Directors, and Directors of Private Preschools with the inclusion of (1–2 years experience also required) in programs licensed by the State Department of Human Services.

PACE (Professional and Career Education for Early Childhood): The Early Childhood option includes a noncredit program, PACE (Professional and Career Education for Early Childhood). PACE Workshops are geared to meet training and enrichment needs of early childhood practitioners on O‘ahu. Four core introductory courses (ECED 105, ECED 110, ECED 131 & ECED 140) and one elective (ECED 152) from Honolulu CC’s Early Childhood Education program are offered in a non-credit workshop format of sixteen 3-hour class sessions each. The workshops can be taken in any order. Participants who complete all sixteen workshops in a course with a score of 70% or better are eligible for Community College credit.
