Children’s Reading nook ribbon cutting

The Children’s Department reading nook is open for readers! The custom designed area features cushioned bench seats and bookshelves tucked between two trees and covered by a tent-like canopy. This whimsical space, designed by Davis Architects, is the perfect spot for parents and children to sit and read together. The reading nook ribbon cutting took place on March 19 and was attended by the Homewood Chamber of Commerce Director Meredith Drennen, members of the Homewood Library Foundation Board of Directors and Homewood Library Board of Trustees, Mike Higginbotham, representing the Homewood City Council, and Homewood Library staff. The Homewood Library Foundation paid for the wonderful new space. The Homewood Library Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization which serves to enrich the Homewood Public Library as the cultural center of the community through raising private funds to supplement public funding for facilities, services, projects, collections and technology. Join us on August 17th for the Homewood Library Foundation’s 6th Annual Block Party and show your support! Purchase tickets at the event or at HomewoodLibraryFoundation.org.
