‘Rock Out Hunger’ at Medfield Day concert BY JOSH PERRY
Hometown Weekly Staff
On Saturday, September 21, the community will gather to celebrate Medfield Day, but this year the fun will not end at 3 p.m. That night at the Medfield Library Gazebo, three local bands will perform at the “Rock Out Hunger” concert with all proceeds going to the Medfield Food Cupboard. The concert will run from 7-10:30 p.m. and admission is $10. The concert is organized by Paul DeLuca, who realized after a conversation with the Food Cupboard that there was a desperate need for resources after the lean summer months. “I had a sobering conversation with Beth Eby, who is President of the Medfield Food Cupboard, and was saddened to hear they are almost at crisis mode after a long summer,” said DeLuca. “She
explained how with kids out of school, there is a larger demand and with people on vacation, there are less donations.” He added, “I have invited her to speak at the event to help raise awareness of the problems every small towns face in the effort to fight hunger, especially in children.”
The three bands scheduled to perform that night are the Teddy Larking band, Lansing Station, and Sould’d Out. Residents are invited to extend the Medfield Day celebration and at the same time to do some good for the community. DeLuca remarked, “In one night we can stock their shelves, hang out with good friends, and listen to some outstanding music.” For more information about the Medfield Food Cupboard, visit www.MedfieldFoodCupboard.co m.
