2. WORRY-FREE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT Aphrodite Hills is the first integrated golf, leisure, and real estate development in Cyprus. In addition to having access to the PGA National Cyprus Golf Course on your doorstep, the real estate options here are far-ranging. Notably, whether you opt to live in your chosen property or utilize it as a rental investment, resorts like Aphrodite Hills offer an extensive range of property management services. Having someone manage all aspects of your property is a major advantage and leaves you to relax. For instance, a variety of services are available to take care of the garden, pool, home, and landscaping, as well as housekeeping. There’s even a payment administration team to help you seamlessly manage your bills. When life’s little worries are taken care of this effortlessly, you’re free to live life to the fullest.

3. SECURE HOME, SECURE MIND La Reserva Club is a 600-hectare estate of elegant private homes, overlooking the resort’s undulating 18-hole championship course. Notably, the impressive array of contemporary homes are a golfer’s utopia. Although the properties are close to the vibrant and lively city of Marbella, La Reserva Club offers safety by being a gated community. As a result, you can rest assured your home is always safe. P. 11 - HOMES.MU | August - September - October

La Reserve Club

The advantage of this is obvious – gates, surveillance cameras, and trained guards, amongst other things, ensure that no unwanted people enter the grounds. Further to this, gated communities promote slower vehicle speeds. Consequently, there is greater safety for pedestrians and children, a greater sense of privacy, and ultimately a higher sense of community. With no distractions from unsolicited knocks on the door, you’re free to golf Marbella with no worries.

4. LIFESTYLE IN A THRIVING COMMUNITY The golf course may be at your feet, but there’s also a plethora of other exciting amenities. Quality restaurants, bars, spas, shopping centers, and more are all kept within manicured, welcoming grounds. Abama Resort is a perfect example of what living in a golf course community entails; everything is in arms reach including a private beach! There’s no better way to relax after a long day on the course than in a top-class restaurant, or spending the night hours with a few drinks. Furthermore, as you’re surrounded by like-minded people who share the same passion, you’ll never be short for dinner guests or beer buddies! Living here is designed to please not only the golfer but the whole family.

Akasha Resort

5. Inviting Climate and Location Golf course properties are often situated in locations with warm, tempered climates. Not only is this a treat for the resident, but it can also enable a year-round rental income if desired. The manner in which golf properties are meticulously designed, serviced, and cared for means their value will only increase. At resorts like Akasha, unique real estate perfectly combines the quality of life with harmony and nature. Consequently, it’s easy to see why purchasing is an excellent investment. Especially when surrounded by lush tropical landscapes, your property will be worth a good amount of money, which is always a nice thought for the future. Improve

your living space

Basic elements for Home Decor to give a boost to your living space Have you moved into a new home ? Do you need to decorate an entirely new space for a different phase of your life or maybe you want to re-decorate your current home to give it a fresher look? In either case, what you need is a roadmap to help you find the right elements to breathe life in your anticipated design. Here are a few tips to consider before embarking on this adventure:

P. 22 - HOMES.MU | August - September - October

Color

Color is one of the most significant parts of a home decorating scheme. When considering color, take a moment to investigate new trends in paint, fabrics, furniture and flooring. All of these elements must fit together to create a pleasing aesthetic for your home environment.Color has the power to infuse happiness and serenity to your surroundings. It can enliven your environment to make you work more efficiently or build towards a Zen frame of mind for optimum relaxation. It can besides give a clear insight on your personality as well as create distinct spaces within one living area. To give a fresh summery touch to your walls, reminiscent of cool breezes, flowers in bloom and sunny afternoons, you should definitely go for vibrant hues and warmer shades. Want to keep it sleek and clean but tired of having greys and whites all over the place, check out the PPG 2020, color of the year: Chinese Porcelain. Consumers are craving blues like Chinese Porcelain to bring them closer to natural elements such as the sky and the sea creating a sense of serenity in any space.

Texture

Texture is key in any interior design scheme. It can create balance while shifting the focal point to the key pieces around your living area. A rich and opulent sofa fabric should be relieved with some lighter textures in the room, such as airy curtains or lighthearted artwork. Think about the texture of wooden floors and furniture, the comfort of carpeting and the cushioning of chairs: Rough textures are more likely to make a space feel intimate and grounded while smooth textures bring a sleeker more aloof tone to the room. Try to mix up textures harmoniously by using cloths like slip covers, throw pillows, and even blankets to make the room pop. The use of dĂŠcor items such as Shadow boxes, knick-knacks or even flowers can add a lively touch.

Mood Start by asking yourself what you are expecting from the room - Do you want it to project energy and productivity? Do you want the room to be your sanctuary away from the madding crowd? Do you enjoy a certain formality in your environment that requires your living space to be sleek and neatly arranged? Or do you prefer a casual setting that suggests creativity and fun? The answers to these questions will guide you on your choice of furniture, fabric and accessories that you will require when redecorating. P. 23 - HOMES.MU | August - September - October

Function

As much as the visual impact is paramount in any interior design, functionality is as important. Planning with a purpose first will naturally lend itself to the smaller details that need to be attended to later on. Allowing the form to follow the room’s function results in a perfect room design. Rearranging the room according to its prime function helps to avoid purchasing furniture that will just clutter the space. Furniture should be carefully placed to provide adequate traffic flow. Draperies picked should use natural light for both close work and larger tasks. Flooring should be both attractive and easy to maintain. Today’s homes require significant space for entertainment centers and computer use. Sometimes, these two elements work together, so make sure your designated areas can accommodate these practical needs.

Lighting

Artful and artistic lighting can enhance your décor and showcase the true beauty of the room. Pay attention not only to the styling of the fixture, but also to how much light it provides and the way it throws the light around the room. So if you are looking for the perfect accent piece to cap off your favorite room, there is a variety to pick from – chandeliers, pendants, Drop top lamp shades, Stick bulb pendants, stick chime chandeliers and so on.  Lighting trends are ever changing, so keep an eye out for new ones to avoid having outdated fixtures in the house. You are now all set to start on your decorating scheme. Remember less is always more, Clutter makes a room gloomy, colors add life to the living space and natural light and flowers are always the best allies in any Home Décor. EVERYTHING

YOU NEED TO KNOW

ABOUT SINKS AND KITCHEN ISLANDS

T

he kitchen is the heart of the home, the place where creativity is at its peak; a heartwarming place to entertain guests and give them a sense of belonging. Kitchen islands in spite of their functionality can be customized to accommodate lush and comfy seating areas so that cooking is not limited to one person but brings forth conviviality.

P. 30 - HOMES.MU | August - September - October

SINKS There is a variety of materials and styles to choose from if you are planning to have a new sink installed in your kitchen. Sinks have progressed quite rapidly over the past decade. They are more aesthetically appealing than the sinks of yesteryear. Options range from cast marble to quartz, granite, solid surface and piedrafina marble. Cast marble is one of the most popular sink materials. Often referred to as cast stone or cultured marble, cast marble is affordable, rarely requires upkeep and looks quite luxurious. Kitchen sinks can be installed at whatever height you would like. The best sinks and countertops are uniquely sized to fit your kitchen’s nuanced dimensions, style and functions. Elite builders fully customize their services to provide you with a sink that suits your unique living or working space. The key is to have a work session with professionals before the installation so that they can come up with potential sink solutions that would mesh with your kitchen’s current layout.

KITCHEN ISLANDS One of the latest trends in kitchen design is the island. Kitchen islands are incredibly popular because they accentuate the kitchen space and can be equipped with all sorts of appliances, countertops and even customized to fit in sitting areas. Kitchen islands are the perfect combination of function and form. If you are considering a new kitchen island or currently have a kitchen island, you should top it off with a brand new sink. Some even choose to install two sinks in the island for additional functionality to allow for two people to operate in the kitchen at the same time: One sink can be used for preparing food and the other can be used for dishes.

SELECT YOUR BUILDER WITH CARE The installation team you hire should take the necessary time to understand your requirements . The sink size, shape, profile, color and pattern are all important.  The sink you end up with should be tailored to your specific needs. If you want a vanity bowl style with a specific color or pattern, installed at an uncommon height, your builder should abide by your vision and bring it to fruition. So go ahead and take a look at the many different sink types and pick out the material and style that best matches your home’s tiles, cabinets or floor.

EXPERT ADVICE IS ALWAYS WELCOME The selection of your new bathroom will prove much easier if you meet with showroom consultants. Confer with these experts and you will find that the possibilities for your new bathroom are virtually endless. Feel free to bring a sketch of the room(s) where you would like a sink to be installed. Bathroom design professionals will work with you to create the perfect sink for your home. These bathroom sink aficionados will be with you throughout the entire design and installation process in case you have any questions or concerns.

SUSTAINABILITY IS THE NEW LUX

P. 36 - HOMES.MU | August - September - October

TIME TO RETHINK ‘SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT’

The UN has been very clear in the objectives set in the Sustainable Development goals, a blueprint addressing global challenges and defining the ‘planetary boundaries’ we need to abide by, to avoid facing an environmental disaster. As individual consumers we are bound by the commitment to find greener solutions in our day-to-day life, adopting a lifestyle which is more in line with the ‘sustainable development’ of our planet. Governments, local authorities and a large number of private companies across the globe are feeling the increasing need to stick by a common and intrinsic vision to move beyond the sole pursuit of economic growth and embrace change to foster sustainability. No change can be constructive if the human element is not empowered. We as common people represent the larger majority of the world’s population and unless we ‘become the change we want to see’ and work united as a team, sustainability will only be utopian. Consumer behaviors are gradually changing specially higher up the social class and that is why in big cities like Singapura, Tokyo, New York and London “Sustainable is the new Lux”. “We live in a world of speed and permanent change. People move, create and recreate more than ever. Millennials are significantly more dynamic, free and virtual than generation X or baby boomers.”CORKBRICK CEO & Founder - Miguel Reynolds Brandao. Millennials are the first ones to prove that merging intelligence, knowledge and purchasing power helps to correlate the need to extend the life cycle of goods to sustainable solutions. They are building a new kind of charm and ethical luxury: the price that future generations will pay for obsolescence and unethical consumerism is so much higher than investments in the sustainable solutions available on the market. They are now opting for quality and environmental-friendly products instead of toxic and non-sustainable ones.  P. 37 - HOMES.MU | August - September - October

To maximize on the use of space in big cities and urban areas there is an urgent need for a dynamic component. CORKBRICK arises from this need. Leveraging from unique characteristics echoed from nature, it is sustainable and useful, creating a new philosophy to managing the spaces we live in. Its dynamics, durability and re-usability is consistent with the urgent need to extend product life cycles creating products that will be used and reused over time by more than one generation. CORKBRICK aims at bringing true economic value to the world. All the players in CORKBRICK transactions are treated equally: from users to investors, everyone’s interest is taken into account in the open and sustainable management model. Facing the intense consumerism culture, CORKBRICK aims at extending the lifetime of

a product. Like many high-end brands, such as Pattek, Philippe, Patagonia, Fiskars, and Timberland among others, CORKBRICK has adopted an innovative approach to Furniture, Structures & Design to provide a high quality, ethical and environmental friendly product , with a greater life span and easily adjustable to meet the changing needs of the end user. CORKBRICK is not only useful but sustainable in that it will never go out of fashion and it is besides, flexible enough to be customized to fit in any working and living spaces. As Lavoisier said in the 18th century, “In nature nothing is created, nothing is lost, everything is transformed”. In 21st century- Such is CORKBRICK. For more information, visit: www.corkbrick.com

WALL MIRRORS AND HOME DECOR

Current Home Trends Trends change and evolve at different paces, some last a season whilst others for years. Somehow to give a fresher look to our interior décor, we always adopt the current trends without giving much thought about the choice of the end products we pick, just going with the flow, in the moment. Mirrors have in recent years taken, on an extra workload up and above their looking glass role-They are increasingly used to provide contrast to dark colors and heavy décors, bringing in more light into a space. We expect mirrors that double as terrariums, earring holders, or works of art, to be specially popular. When selecting a mirror, it’s great fun to experiment and consider some unusual options. But a high-quality mirror can be a pricey decor item, and it pays to ponder over your choice so that it lasts. Here are a few tips that can be handy:

P. 39 - HOMES.MU | August - September - October

[1] SIZE Mirrors can be the predominant feature of any room if they are too large. In bathrooms and passageways, larger mirrors can be effective because of their functional aspect. But in living or dining rooms, a huge mirror can give a feeling of unease to the room’s occupants who would constantly feel the need to peek at the mirror! Unless you need a large mirror to hide an unsightly feature, it’s best to pick a smaller one.

[2] NUMBER A single large mirror like an Antique mirror or a Venetian mirror will create an impact instantly. But if you don’t want the mirror to be the main feature of the room, the best option is to have several smaller mirrors set out in asymmetrically.

[3] FRAME The frame of the mirror can give it a different dimension. Depending on your current décor you can go with frameless ones, synthetic ones, wooden ones or metal ones. • Frameless mirrors offer a minimalist contemporary look, but can be difficult to clean. The mirror can also be more fragile at the edges. • Frames made out of synthetic materials offer a wider range of bright and breezy colors. They are lighter and can last longer. • Wooden frames give a classic natural look, and can fit into decor themes ranging from the minimalist Scandinavian look to the ornate and stately look. • Metal frames add a sense of drama, grandeur, and solidity, and are ideal for a formal dining or living room.

[4] SHAPE Rectangular or square mirrors can add some light in a long passage area. They also help to enhance unused corners. But why stick to rectangular or square for your new mirror? Circular mirrors can bring in a dash of freshness and give an eye-catching and jaunty look, specially in a dull, square, or boxy room. Smaller round mirrors can be used to add accents and draw attention away from unwanted features. Oval mirrors have a similar but less assertive effect, and can cover more space on a wall without becoming the focal point. If your mirror needs to be the prominent feature of your décor, you should then pick any of these shapes - triangular, diamond-shaped, arch or even starburst mirrors. Hanging a mirror is a quick and easy way to transform any living area. But a high-quality piece can be a significant investment, so it pays to choose wisely, and get all your facts clear before your purchase.

It is not only Jaguar’s first all –Electric Vehicle ( EV) but also sets new standards for luxury electric vehicles with a comfortable but yet posh interior . The vehicle uses two concentric motors developed by Jaguar, one on each axle for permanent four-wheel drive producing 394 bhp and 513lb ft of torque, to cover 0-100km/h in 4,8 seconds. The Lithium-ion battery sized at 90kWh allows for a range of 470km1 on the new whilst the EV navigation system optimizes the itinerary. Its beauty lies in the way the body has been meticulously architectured in aluminium. It not only slaps the onlooker in the face with its class but also guarantees optimal security and safety to the driver due to its rigidity given that the body to the core of the vehicle is equally proportional in terms of mass. Equipped with the latest technologies in AI, the I-PACE allows the driver to customize the infotainment according to his own preferences. A guarantee of 8 years stamped to the battery for a range of 160,000 Km and maintenance provided for two years /34000 Km is undoubtedly one of the many perks provided by the company to give the driver a hassle-free experience driving this beast.

PORTRAIT

S

CORADAM, JEWELRY BRAND

M

ike was born in France and originally trained to be a designer and software program engineer. While studying abroad, he began to teach himself the technical aspects of photography simply to improve his own travel snapshots. He soon fell in love with photography as an art form and with architecture as a subject matter, discovering a craft that satisfies both his analytical and artistic sensibilities.

FASHION + HOSPITALITY + ARCHITECTURE PHOTOGRAPHY Mike’s work is built on the belief that fashion, hospitality and architecture photography are deeply linked. All are about light and space, with a combination of artistry and technology. The earliest known photograph is of a building, and now, in the age of social media, photography has become an important part of architectural experience. We often encounter images of new buildings before we see the real thing revealing captivating details and angles they might otherwise miss. P. 60 - HOMES.MU | August - September - October

Photographs have the power to shape how a building is understood: light can change the mood, composition creates a sense of scale and context, empty space can be made ominous or inviting. Mike’s images are an invitation for viewers to have a fresher perception of the captivating , detailed angles therein.

THE TINY HOME In the cyber era we are living in, we are literally suffocated with home decorating tips. But if you have barely enough room for a couch and a coffee table, these beautiful guidelines are of no help. As much as decorating small homes can be tricky, adopting the right tactics can enliven your home no matter how small it is.

P. 66 - HOMES.MU | August - September - October

Double Duty - Multifunctional pieces can be key Make the most of vertical space and opt for furniture items with free storage space. Nowadays there is an array of beds fitted with drawers which can hold your linens or pajamas. An ottoman can hold books or craft supplies. Some modern chairs can hold a bookcase under their seats. These will reduce your need for dressers or cabinets that take up precious space.

Looking Up - Creating an illusory dimension Hang a lantern or a table lamp from the ceiling instead of placing it on the floor to give an exotic look. Hanging baskets can be used for flowers and plants accentuating that tropical feel while minimizing use of space. Tall bookshelves and cabinets can hold your entire library or pantry. The use of adhesive-backed hooks is a great option to hang kitchen towels, coats, or artwork.

Maximize your mini space with bold colours Hanging a large colorful textile fabric on a wall can create an instant temporary accent wall giving the illusion of a larger room .A wall organizer can serve as a spice rack or an accessory holder, combining form and function to keep your home tidy and beautiful. Give each room its own distinct personality by picking different colour schemes for each of them.

Come to terms with your day-to-day routine Start by purging all the unneeded junk you have amassed over years and chalk out your priorities. Do you need extra storage space, more seating areas, or office space? From there on, work on the size of the furniture you will be needing in each space. For instance, an eat-in kitchen, although petite in size, can be transformed into a nice dining area by adding a perfectlysized banquette for some additional seating. Likewise having sitting areas by the window can help you make the most of natural light whilst creating cozy nooks around the home. Home decorating for small spaces can be fun if you make the right choices in terms of furniture and favour DIY ideas! Small can also be tidy, chic and beautiful.
