Wish your house had just one more room? Adjust your thinking, and you may find that it does. Savvy homeowners can apply multi-task thinking and come up with dual-purpose rooms that maximize space. For example, Charlotte designer Bridget Gasque of Loftus Design used an oversized room adjacent to a garage to create a room that triples as a mudroom, drop zone and home office. The room, which Gasque created for a client, features a designated space for children to enter the home and store their coats, jackets, shoes and backpacks. Custom cubbies provide an organized space for everything. The room also features a desk that parents use for work and kids can use for homework. There’s even a dog station, where leashes and collars are stored.
