U.S. 290 HNTB served as program management consultant to the Texas Department of Transportation on the reconstruction and expansion of 38 miles of US 290 in Houston. The 13 construction contracts under the program included 15 miles of freeway reconstruction, 23 miles of freeway widening and a 10-mile extension of the HOV lane. US 290 is a major northwest spoke in the hub of highways that circle and radiate from downtown Houston. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT The improved US 290 brings new capacity to accommodate projected 2035 traffic volumes for Houston. Portions of this $2.4 billion total project cost corridor were delivered to commuters almost 20 years early.
METRO Project includes: HNTB serves as the Program Management Consultant for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, providing comprehensive planning, environmental and conceptual development services for the Agency’s multi modal transit system improvements METRONext program. In 2021, the HNTB team initiated one of METRONext signature projects the METRORapid Bus Rapid Transit University BRT corridor, which includes a $1.5B, 25 mile “Gold Standard” BRT corridor. Combination of at grade and elevated structure of exclusive and semiexclusive BRT bus lanes 41 stations with connectivity to five METRO transit center facilities including new a new multi-modal Wheeler Transit Center that ultimately will serve as the inter modal transit nexus with METRO’s existing Red, Purple, and Green lines rail Nearly all of METRO’s major north south routes west of Main Street The regions new technology/innovation hub- the Rice University ION Center
INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL REDEVELOPMENT PROGRAM HNTB supports the program management team at Houston Airport System on the International Terminal Redevelopment Program (ITRP). The program includes four major contract deliverables, two construction manager at risk and two design-build, which when completed will support Houston Airports vision of “establishing a five star global air service gateway.” PROGRAM MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT

has supported various stages of public private partnership (P3) and design build project development, ranging from pre procurement to procurement support through to design, construction and maintenance. HNTB oversees planning, pre-procurement, procurement and contracting support, including Comprehensive Development Agreement design and construction implementation for 10 miles of new toll lanes and maintenance responsibility for existing general purpose lanes and right of way in Harris County, and Project Development Agreement development with the adjacent Brazoria County Toll Road Authority for 5 miles of new toll lanes.
