ae Choice, some may call her a magazine vixen, who isn’t shy infront of the camera. We met Jae a few months back, and after following her for some time, we were impressed with her commitment and dedication to the art she loves, modeling. Jae calls chicago home, but her favorite place in the world to be is Miami. Although modeling has been a big part of her success, Jae’s main focus is to be an actress and have a successful business in the future. She has many projects she is working on currently, including other magazine features. HNS sat down with Jae to get the scoop on this Chicago beauty. We know that you are currently residing in Chicago, but we are curious as to where your hometown is located? “I was born in Chicago, but my hometown is Milwaukee,WI. But I currently reside in chicago.” So where do you get the majority of your support for your career? “I receive a large support from my family and friends”

The Interview Has there been a moment in your career that stands out to you? “My favorite point in my career was being featured in my first magazine. Actually getting the chance to open the magazine and seeing my pictures inside.” Is there anyone you enjoyed working with? “I worked with Michael Moon Thompson. He is a former NFL player, he is an amazing guy” Is there anyone in the industry that inspires you? “I would have to say Queen Latifah inspires me. She has been in the business for a long time and she keeps her personal life under the radar, not to mention she’s a mogul.” What do you feel that you have that sets you apart from other models? “What sets me apart from the other models is that I’m willing to network with other models. Other models are scared to network with eachother for the fear of another model taking their opportunity.” Is there any current or future projects you would like to share? “I am currently working on photoshoots for various other magazines. I’m also going to be pursuing some acting roles as well.” Any shoutouts? “Shout to my photographer Marchal Raines A.K.A Studio Mars. My makeup artist Tanya Miller, owner of BeautiBot Chicago. My Made Mogul Models and Made Mogul Entertainment family. My family and friends who always aupport me in everything I do.”

JAVELE CARTEL

@javelecartel

HNS Go Crazy contest Champion, Javele Cartel aka J-Five is no beginner to the music business. No pen or pad in hand, he stepped into the booth after listening to the contest beat, hit record and spit the hottest 16 bar verse, which lead him straight to number one. It’s evident why our judges chose him to compete in the top 10, we had faith that our viewers would agree that he had the skills and talent to earn the title. With 44 percent of the total votes, we had our winner. HNS had the one on one with our CHAMPION. Javele Cartel, is that your artist name? “Javele is a blend of my government (Javon) and my brother (Tervele) that passed when I was 16. He wasn’t just my brother, he was a father figure and a role model. So out of respect for the type of music I make, telling our stories growing up, I felt it was only right I brung my brother into this game with me!” We understand you have made quite the name for yourself in Syracuse, NY and you have a ton of support from your fans. Life must get real busy at times, with all the things you do, what would you say is the most memorable moment for you so far, career wise? “It gotta be when I was in Buffalo, NY. I went to a Busta Rhymes concert. Remy Ma was there, DJ Enuff and the Heavy Hittas was there and a couple other artist was performing. Busta brung some young boy from back stage from his last show and asked the crowd where the

spittas at. Ayebody started pointing at me so he pulled me on the stage to battle homeboy for some bread. Soon as DJ Enuff dropped the beat I ain’t give the homie a second to think I just went ape shit for at least 2 minutes. They stopped the music crowd was goin crazy BATTLE WAS OVER! Dude tried to spit but he got a couple bars in and they stopped him. Shit was over. Best memory so far for me” Obviously we know that you work hard with your music, but you have a natural talent that is hard to come by. Do you believe it’s your hard work or your natural talent that makes you create these hot tracks? “I gotta say it’s a blend of the 2. It definitely comes natural but hardwork will ALWAYS beat talent if talent don’t work, so everyday I’m perfecting my craft and stayin’ on top of what I do.” Are there any current or future projects you would like to share? “Right now I’m just working my videographer TO DEATH shooting MULTIPLE videos a week, multiple videos a day trying to flood my youtube channel (thisisjavele) with as many videos as I can in the next couple months. The whole point is to get my fans acquainted with my image and visuals rather than them just being acquainted with my voice. In the late fall “'ll probably be looking to start dropping a some dvds of all the past, present, and future video work I’m going to have. I’m also searching for a hot producer to put on my team and run with so if anybody think they got that HEAT then definitely hit me on the email and let’s see”

Any shout outs? “Off the top I’m shoutin’ out HNS Mag and all the staff for this opportunity. Next I gotta shout out my homie Robbie Walts for putting me on to this whole hottest verse competition. I DEFINITELY have to shout out my family and the whole city of Syracuse for holding me down and keeping me motivated to go hard. They make sure I know that they support me 100% and with that in mind man I feel like I can’t lose. Shout out to my whole Get Money Patriots (GMP) family, WE ALL IN #SALUTE. Shoutouts to my videographer Terry Little, shoutouts to the whole Syracuse music scene man I GOT US! Last but not least shoutouts to my brother/ manager/ my mufuckin dawg Mike Childs!”what’s good!”

It’s not everyday that we meet the likes of Javele Cartel. When it comes to moments that stand out to us in the future, this is definitely an artist that makes that impression. Ambitious, confident, hardworking and talented, Javele continues to bang out hot tracks and hot videos. HNS is proud to call him our 2012 HOTTEST VERSE CHAMPION!

cket Legends

When HNS was introduced to UK’s Daniel Morgan, one of the lead vocalists in the band STRAIGHT JACKET LEGENDS, we were awed. This 4 member orchestral pop punk band is like no other we have seen in a long while. They bring back the nineties punk with the modernized appeal. The SJL are becoming an International sensation. What we find most intriguing is all 4 members provide vocals, which creates the perfect harmonized sound. Their video for the song Sophia really connects with the audience. These guys are on the road to stardom and HNS is glad we were a part of the ride!

From left to right: Caine (drums), Tommy (Guitar), Jake (Guitar),Dan (Bass).

What is your artist name? “Straight Jacket Legends” How did you come up with your name? “We decided that some people are crazily famous and some are famous for being crazy so they are legends of the crazies!” Hometown? “Holyhead (Wales UK)” If you weren’t in the music industry, what would be your second career choice be? “Probably like kids entertainers?” Up to this point what was the most memorable moment in your career?

“probably having our video played on Kerrang TV in the UK was like a WOW.” Many listeners do not appreciate the level of talent you must have acquired to be able to produce consecutive hot songs. Did you have to work hard to master this? Or does it come naturally for you? “We always work hard at everything we do so it’s a matter of being able to create songs that are well written and that sound good for people to sing along!” Is there any current or future projects you would like to share?

STRAIGHT JACKET LEGENDS “We have just recorded a song with USA Indie Punk Rapper MC Lars so watch out for this song!” What quality do you feel you have that sets you aside from all the other artists trying to make it today? “We are down to earth, we are really fun and we love all our fans and supporters and we take the time to talk to every one at a show and give as much free stuff away I guess this is missing from a lot of other acts.” HOTTEST 4 BARS. In your opinion, what is your hottest 4 bars you ever wrote?

“Probably the 4 bars in the new song as it is so hot it will blow your mind!” These days It is not easy to have both respect and fame in this industry. If you had to choose one of the two, would you choose Fame or Respect? “Well it’s all about respect if you have it kids will come to your shows and keep coming forever, if you are just famous kids only come once and then another trend will hit. Would rather sell 30 tickets a night than 1000 tickets one off.” Do you have a website or fan page, where your fans

can give you feedback and possibly get a response from you? “Sure we always reply to any one and every one our sites are: www.ianbeale.com www.facebook.com/straig htjacketlegends www.twitter.com/SJLtw” Is there any social networking sites you would like to share? “Our Facebook page if possible :) www.facebook.com/straig htjacketlegends” Any shout outs? “Big shout out to MC Lars and every one at our management group.”

HNS sits down with R&B singer

Trey Hernandez http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Trey/358676730605

Any shout outs?

Up to this point what was the most memorable moment in your career?

“Most memorable moment would have to be hearing my song on the radio! I participated with a local artist countdown in Colorado Springs and my song was voted on the countdown and debuted @ 2. It was a great day!” How did you come up with your name? “I got my name when I

was sitting in a studio finishing up my first demo and the producer asked my manager if I had thought of a name yet? My mom, who is my manager, wrote down my whole name on paper and stared at it for a bit. Because I’m the third she said how bout Tres which is Spanish for three and just spell it as TREY. Simple, but that’s me simple.” If you weren’t in music industry, what would be your second career choice?

“I guess it would be a clothing designer. I’m big into fashion and would love to have my own clothing line.”

Many listeners do not appreciate the level of talent you must have acquired to be able to produce consecutive hot songs. Did you have to work hard to master this? Or does it come naturally for you?

“Honestly, I have had to work hard to perfect my craft. I always had the ability to sing and write music however, I knew that I needed to work on it. And, I’m still doing that till this day. For me, it’s about pushing my writing and singing abilities to the limit and never get complacent.” Is there any current or future projects you would like to share?

“Currently I’m working on my second mix tape called, The Babylon.”

“S/O to HNS magazine for giving me this opportunity, S/O my lil bro Purp Lex, S/O the whole Full Flite crew, Chris MAC, ACE, Lady LA. And lastly S/O to my whole family without their love and support I don’t think I would have been able to accomplish as much as I have.” “HOTTEST 4 BARS” in your opinion what is your hottest 4 bars you ever wrote?

“WOW, I guess it would be off a song from my first mix tape called Looking Back, just cause the words mean a lot to me: Looking back no way otherwise we fade/ through the times we’ve paid those are things we say/ I won’t let them take are dreams away/ hold be strong and I’ll lead the way.” These days it isn’t easy to have both respect and fame in this industry. If you had to choose one of the two, would you choose respect or fame?

“Respect because for me when other artists respect your craft, they will want to work with you. And that opens endless possibilities of hit songs. I would rather be respected for the kind of music I put out than be famous and alone at the top.”

SWAY SWIZZLE How did you come up with your name? “My artist name is Sway SwIzLe, I came up with that name one night doing a meditation session. I was reflecting on my prior name "Yung Sway", I came to the conclusions that the prefix "Yung" was over used. I then decided to drop it, that led to the problem of being mistaken as Sway from MTV news. So I knew I needed more, like many of my great ideas SwIzLe popped in my head. After saying it out loud I was sold.” Many listeners do not appreciate the level of talent you must have acquired to be able to produce consecutive hot songs. Did you have to work hard to master this? Or does it come naturally for you? “I have a natural talent of creativity. That was only half the battle when it came to dropping hot songs. I really worked hard to find myself as an artist. After learning about myself I had to developed my sound to a professional level. After that

It became about either making songs people would want to hear, or songs I want to make. I decided to go with music that makes me happy. When it comes to my songs I just try to be original and keep my vibe positive.” What quality do you feel you have that sets you aside from all the other artists trying to make it today? “I feel that my subject matter is explained differently from most rappers. I feel I have some creative bars that say the same thing as most rappers but in a totally different way. Also I am just myself all the time, I feel like can nobody be me better then me.” Any shout outs? “I got to shout out my lovely wife Tee Tee. Also my mom and sisters. It’s important that I reflect where I come from and to never forget that.” If you weren’t in the music industry, what would your second choice career be? “I would love to be a biologist or a Caregiver for the Developmentally Disabled; I love nature and serving others.”

I am proud of a lot of moments, like meeting celebrities such as William Shatner, Eric Roberts & Lou Ferrigno which are all memorable experiences. However, my pride and joy is to be able to represent the underground music scene as an Independent unsigned female artist. I sing, write, manage myself, manage a hiphop artist, market myself,

gather my network, book my shows, copyright my material, record and mix everything on my own. I take pride in this, and this new mixtape is all me baby. I will remember this part of my life forever and I can pull my mixtape and world-wide collaborations from my vault one day and show my unborn children (lol) one day. This is who your mommy was. “Jasmine Dustin and Adriana Lima!” What are you currently working on now? “Lots of castings. Keep your

fingers crossed!”

And you know we have to ask our famous question right? So what do you feel you have that sets you apart from the other models? “I am a little

shy, but I am also very driven and motivated to do better eachtime, as well as getting better eachtime.”

If you weren’t in the music industry, what would be your second career choice? “I'd probably go to culinary school and become a chef, because I love to eat.” Up to this point what was the most memorable moment in your career? “When I was on 106&Park's Freestyle Friday, rapping in front of Diddy, and Dawn from dirty money told me I was dope during the commercial break. It almost felt as if I was dreaming hearing that from someone who's as established in the game as her.”

Many listeners do not appreciate the level of talent you must have acquired to be able to produce consecutive hot songs. Did you have to work hard to master this? Or does it come naturally for you? “I would say it comes pretty naturally; when I hear a beat that I really feel, the ideas just flow through me. It comes from years and years of song writing, I've been rapping since I was 9 and I’m 21 now. So my experience has definitely played a roll in that as well, but like any other artist/songwriter I do have my moments of writer's block.”

Is there any current or future projects you would like to share? “Yes I am actually working on 2 mixtapes currently."F1RST CL@S$" which drops August 1st.I took a very lyrical and real approach on this project. The music is full of classic samples, and timeless lyrics. It gives off a very smooth vibe. And the second project is called "F.Y.M". On this mixtape I'll showcase a different side of my talent as I have more of an up tempo/club banger style of music.” “HOTTEST 4 BARS” in your opinion what is your hottest 4 bars you ever wrote? "Kinda surreal, I’m rhyming so real/ It’s like my lyrics were written in braille, something you gotta feel/ Put my words in a swisher and let em burn/ Inhale pain, and exhale a lesson learned" - First Class.” A website where your fans can give you feedback and possibly get a response from you? “Well my fans can always hit me on twitter @AceKayo or visit the Official Ace Kayo Fan Page @ www.acekayo.webs.com .“

LASHES 101

By Barb Saric

I’ve always been fond of the 50’s and when I see red lips and false lashes I think of icons like Marilyn Monroe, Jane Mansfields and Elizabeth Taylor. The 50’s beauty regiment started a trend that remains timeless for all decades, especially today’s growing beauty industry. I started wearing lashes in the early 90’s when lashes weren’t even popular. I remember people telling me how they loved my false lashes but no one would dare to wear. Other than the fashion and film industry no one wore them. Now on the other hand they are the best thing since sliced bread. I use to wear my lashes only for special occasions back then, but now I can’t leave the house without them. My make-up feels incomplete, almost like something were missing. I never thought the day would come where I would wear them everyday but I do and I absolutely love them.

I now share that same desire with many other beauty enthusiast including teens. I spoke to a well known beauty retailer and they told me that the Niagara Region sells more lashes then Toronto. Wow! Really? I’m not surprised because they make a women feel sexy and who doesn’t want to feel sexy. I have a few tips on what lashes to buy and how to apply. The best lashes out there are Ardell’s, they come in all shapes and sizes and are very easy to apply. If you’ve never worn them before you may want to try something more natural looking, I would recommend using “Babies”. If you’re looking for a sexy sultry look try “Wispies”, these are the ones I use and for a smaller version you can try “Demi Wispies”. For those who like to make a real fashion statement you can try “Daisey” or “Gisele” they’re fun! When applying your lashes, try removing them from the container with a pair of tweezers so you don’t damage the lash.

Measure the lash to your eye before using glue so you can make sure the lash fits properly and cut if necessary. Measuring the lash first avoids putting the lash too close to the inner point of your eye which is uncomfortable or going beyond the natural lash line so the lashes look droopy. You’ll have to purchase Ardell’s “Clear Strip Glue” which is the best glue out there. When applying dab glue on your hand first and use the glue from the tip of the applicator to apply. This avoids using too much which can make a mess! Now you’re ready for application, apply the lash as close to the natural line as possible. Once both lashes are applied you can apply mascara to the lashes to really make them stand out. I only apply mascara to them the first few times I wear them because it coats the lash enough that it’s not necessary afterwards. The lashes can last you a few months depending on how many times you’ve worn them and how well you store them.

I wear mine everyday and sometimes get two months wear. Always keep the container they come in for storage and never wash them no matter what anyone tells you. Once you wet the lashes they will stick together and they’ll never look the same. So what are you waiting for? Get out and get your first pair of lashes, they’ll make you feel sexy and beautiful starting from the inside out! And we can’t forget about the red lipstick to complete the look and go hand in hand with those sultry lashes. Faces cosmetics has two colours your absolutely love! There called “Vladimir #308” and “Hannah #416” there deep but vibrant reds that will make your lips look luscious! And don’t forget to line your lips with Faces “True Red” lip liner and their clear “Gloss n Go” to coat your lips for that ultimate “Old Hollywood Glamour!”
