discovered Barande and persuaded him to share his vision with the world. Here, the amazing breadth and sequential nature of Barande’s work is reflected in the book’s design: the covers of the 4,000 copies of the book, all based on Barande’s paintings, are each unique. David Galloway is a curator and art critic. Professor Emeritus of Ruhr University, Germany, his most recent books include Abrams’ Barbara Nessim. Henry-Claude Cousseau has been Director of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris since 2000.
